ww kit does not fit sedans

I just heard from Mitch at protege5online that the west wings body kit does not fit the sedans, only the mp3. He says they tested it this week and found it does not fit.
Sure disappointing, since I specifically emailed them and asked them if it will fit the sedan, as it has different bumper bars. THey said it was not a problem.

Anyways, what if I get the www bumper anyways, anyone know exactly what is needed to make a mp3 bumper fit a sedan. Bumper bar only?? (anyone have an idea on the cost??)

I thought I also heard the fender wells are a bit different, but I cant see how...

I'm not sure if I'm correct but all you'd have to do is get the MP3 "rebar", some new fender well liners and you're set. There's one guy on here with a silver ES that has an MP3 conversion. I don't think it would be too much different for the wings west kit.

Looked a little harder, and I can see that the wheel well covers could be different. I was hoping to get feedback from someone who has done this, and see exactly what needs to be changed.

the inner wheel well covers are different. i was at my dealer nad looked at the sedan's and the pro5's. the pro5 has a small flap attached at the bottom front. also, the front grills are different. (both upper AND lower) fog lights are different, but that one is obvious. if i did the conversion, i would get some catz or piaa's that fit and give better lighting. oh yeah, and the re-bar thingy is different because of the fog lights and lower grill opening.

tester I sent you PM about the conversion. If your still thinking
about getting WW kit. You "will" need wheel well covers, a reinforcement bar, upper and lower grills, and fog lights. But I think WW sells the fog
lights that fit.

Also wanted to say that the upper grill is defintely different
then the sedan version. You would think they would be the
same. But they are not. below is the pictures showing the
difference.

front grill

Hope that answers your question.

The big question now, is what is the difference between the ww and the mp3 bumper.
I know I will need the new lights, bumper bar, wheel wells, but my last unknown is the grills.
I am assuming the lower grill is part of the ww kit. THe upper grill ,according to the ww install info, is supposed to be reused, so I would probably need that as well.
Hmm, it sure is adding up.

Makes you wonder why ww is making a kit for the 2000mp3 owners (why an mp3 owner would want an almost identical ww bumper baffles me), and not for the countless sedan users. Sure is weird to me.

ANyways, sounds like I would need the following..
1. WW bumper
2. mp3 bumper bar
3. mp3 wheel wells.
4. mp3 upper grill.
5. New lights

Sounds right???

Yea, I'm also intrested in this Wings West Kit myself. But, I have a 2002 pro sedan so I'm probably gunna need all that stuff also. So what you're all saying is that the only part that isn't directly going to fit on is the front bumper? Like, the rest of the parts like the rear lower and side skirts are all going to fit on the sedan? Exactly what parts do I need if I want the WW front bumper ( excluding the fog lights, and bumper) ? Also, how much would they cost about for each part. Thanks.

yup sounds right to me... but i'm curious. are you after an mp3
front end only or are you doing the whole ww kit?? If your just
after the front end.. just get an mp3 bumper its cheaper. The
only diff from ww and the oem is the flares(fancy stuff) on the
sides. beyond that its the same bumper(that I can see).

Hope that Helps

Doing the whole kit. If I was after just the front bumper, I agree with you, just get the mp3 bumper (I actually like it better than the ww). Its just that the 4 piece ww kit is cheaper than the mp3 bumper and skirts. Mazda charges way too much for the skirting.

BTW, anyone know and body differences between a 2002 and 2001 sedan. Body parts are identical?? EX, a skirt for a 2002 sedan will fit a 2001 sedan????

between the 2001 and the 2002 model year sedan's, there are only few minor differences. i have a 2001, and my buddy has a 2002. his has a three spoke steering wheel, alternate badging on the sides and back, and satin trim inside as opposed to the chrome in mine. other than that, identical. well, almost; his is red and mine is black.

Our Sponsor for our club is a authorized West Wings Dealer, and just put the full kit on his '01 ES Sedan, without getting the MP3 Bumper.
