Will this amp be strong enough?

wiring has nothing to do with needing a cap. if you don't have one, your headlights will dim and your amp will not get all of its power. yes my suggestion was more but to some people warranty and gaurntee mean something(not beinb ****, just saying it matters to some)
good luck with your system

i do see your point with the proper alt and battery. buy on my last install, i did a infinity reference system in my buds car and for a 280X1 amp on a singe 10" reference sub i ran 8 guage wire straight from the battery to the cap to the amp and grounded the amp and cap with the 8 guage wire also. when the bass was hitting at 3/4 volume, all lights on the car would dim, the light on the amp would dim, bass still sounded awesome. since i had already cut the wire for the amp and cap i first just wired the wire from the battery stright into the amp and when the bass would hit and sustain a long note i would touch it to the cap and take it off and i could hear the difference. the car was a 2000 cavalier with stockeverything. if the headlights dim, then stuff isn't getting its full power which "usually includes the amp" and the bass won't hit as hard. In most small non powerful systems and cap isn't needed, but i wouldn't recommend going without one unless money was only reason. but if you can get a 1faurd cap for a hundred bucks, thats a fraction of the price for another alt. and battery.

BTW, spiral cell batteries can be had for under $100, and will do so much more for your system. i paid $40 for a blue top generic one. and $80 for a red top excide.

i did goto that website blue, i guess the 10 guage wire is what would be used if it were like mounted a foot from the battery, but i put in the specs of the amp(25 amps), the total length of origanal cord was 17 feat, we had 2 ft left so lets say ruggly, 15 feet, the webside says 8 guage is fine, which is what we ran. it was a streetwire kit if that makes a difference

on the wiring the battery is against the drivers side firewall, we came in through the firewall under the dash, ran right under the driverside trim all the way to the rear seats so yes it was a short run. we are using a us acoustic amp so i have no idea how great that amp is. alright my next question is, on your system if you had the stock alt and stock battery wanting to pull 1950 watts rms, would like a 2 faurd cap help anything for at all? when you say PA amp, are you talking about a manufactor or talking about public annoucement(loudspeaker amps) amps
Hmm....I just got here, but I've read through this post and can say that I agree and disagree. You guys both (walight and blue) have to remember that not all companies tell the truth. For example, an alt on the Cavalier may be supposed to have enough room for extra amps, but cannot. Also, the amp might pull more amps even though it's not supposed to. Weirder things happen. But you're both right, so whatever.
Don't buy a cap unless you HAVE to. Try it out first. I never needed one on my old car, and technically I REALLY needed one.
I got a Yellowtop for 138 shipped off of ebay. I ran my old 1000w+ system for 3 hours straight at loud volume w/out needing to start the car. They're worth the money. I've also forgotten my lights for 5 or more hours and it was fine.
Unless you're set on that Infinity sub, you can get better for the same price. And unless you REALLY think you'll break it, I'd look for unused used stuff. I've never had anything die on me, and for 300 you could get an IDMAX which would totally blow that Infinity away.
Whew.....
