What does MDF stand for? I read that you can get it from any home depot store but what exactly is it?

Medium Density Fiberboard. Its basically just particle board, except with finer pieces of wood, instead of chunks. The finer pieces allow for a tighter more compressed bond, with resin selaing. The more compressed the board is used in subwoofer applications, because it is dense enough, and solid enough to produce good response from a subwoofer enclosure. There are more compact materials people use for crazy trick *** enlocures, but MDF is pretty standard for the ease of use, and perfromance it offers.

Exactly.

MDF is actually more glue and resin than wood. Think of a big mixture of resin, glue and sawdust compressed like a **** and comes out in 4x8 sheets. It's very uniform, but chips easily. Make sure to pre-drill any screw holes. A braid nailer or finish nailer works just as good as screws and makes things go much faster too.
