Actually, i think the subs are either 8 inches or 6 inches. They definetely aren't 10s. Me and friend wired it to his amp that powers 2 12's and they sound pretty sweet. His amp is like 1000 or 1200 watts though, so i dont really know what to think o that.

If i get an underpowered amp, it just won't let me do all i can with the subs, but if i get an overpowered one im wasting money and might blow the subs right?

the 10w3 is a 10 inch sub with 250 rms so 300 watt max is perfect

where to start. umm. first off I'd ask for specifics on the subs, and write 'em down. that'll give us all a better idea to help you with.

With amps, I really wouldn't fret toomuch I'd assume you're just looking for something decent, however, depending on the voice coil, and wiring specifics of the subs, you might want to be careful. I'd assume it's running 2 4ohm voice ciols in paralell giving a 2ohm load which alot of amps won't suppport bridged. SO you'd be looking for something with a bridged 2ohm stable output. As far as power level, overpowering, believe it or not is actually generally better than underpowering as underpowered speakers are more likely to be turned up to the point of distortion from the amps which gets sloppy as far as control over the speaker, and blows speakers.

Basically, Look further into the exacts of the subs, and start learning to sift through max output B.S. I'm kind of bdoubting that your friend's amp is over 1000w RMS. I've got that in mine, and it's painful. Definately check the other forum out. It's much more active, Not trying to knock these guys, they're trying for you, but there's basically just a very very well versed community over there, many who are or were pro installers, etc.

Crap, i've been trying to get onto that forum for a long timje, but even after i register, it tells me im not allowed to post, either because there is like a hold on my account or the admiins blocked me...but i dont see why they would have blocked me.

I tlaked to a guy at Best buy today and he said i should probably look at 2-channel amps since they are a bit cheaper. He looked at my subs and said raound 100w RMS per sub would really be enough. I found out for sure that they are W3's, and they are 6.5 inches i think. I'm trying to decide between these 2 amps:

Most vital Q of all, what kind of voice coils and what resistance are they? are they indeed single 4ohm voice coils? If that's the case, a mono amp might be better because most of those will put out best power at 2ohms mono. YOU could always jsut get a 100wRMS X 2 amp, and run one channel to each, but if they're in a shared space box the small differences between L&R can cause damage. Ask and see what you cna figure out with Voice coils.

Thanks for all your help guys. Here's what i ended up doing:
-Got the subs (2 6's or 7's or somethign) $35
-Got an amp - 350 Watt RMS Bridged (Performance Technique) $115
-Got all the wires and harness stuff ($20ish)

Tried to install with some friends but there were some things that were just too crappy to do, like removing the head unit. I looked on this forum and saw people using tools and crap, but it wasn't workin out for us. Took it to circuit city today and just paid them $50 to install it. Turned out great and it bumps really nicely!
