Toucan (Eurolite) Euro Tails

Has anyone successfully installed a set of the Toucan euro tails (the same one's as on the wing's west) on their car? If so are the bulb sizes different ..it says it's for a 99-00.

I have found that on my 2000 Protege LX the turn signal bulb does not fit into the hole where it is supposed to on the euro tail. It only fits in to the lower outter red circle.

I bought a set for really cheap to see how they would look as I am returning my carbon fiber APC tails because they are poorly designed.

Thanks,

Jonny

So you are saying that the APC's are bad? How are these toucan ones? Sorry for giving you questions when you wanted answers!

Yeah the APC carbon fiber tails look really nice ..they really suit the car. Unfortunately there are severe quality problems with APC. Look at my pics at http://www3.sympatico.ca/jon.wilson and you will see a closeup of the defective plastic. It's like that on both sides. I put the stock lights back on for now.

I also have a set of the Toucan lights ...got them for $285CDN +tax (same as wings west protege) but the light bulbs don't fit. They fit if I put the turn signal bulb in the outter red circle at the bottom of the light and then put that bulb at the top of the light beside the red circle.

I have seen pictures of them on 2001+ models but never on a 2000. The wiring shouldn't be different since my APC's fit without a problem.

I have the same ones as the Wings West Protege as well. You're right, the turn signal bulb doesn't fit at the bottom. I thought so too. That hole is for the reverse bulb. The lower outer red circle is for the turn signal. If you use the orange bulb, it'll still work. I looked for a white bulb to replace it but with no luck. This is what I did. I re-wired all my bulbs. The top circle is surposed to be the parking/brake light and is now the parking/signal light. The lower outer circle is now the brake light and I replaced the bulb with a red LED. I tried a white LED but they suck, red is brighter for some reason. The lower inner circle is surposed to be a parking light also with a 194 bulb. I replaced it with a red LED and it too is my brake light. I disconnected the other 194 on top because I thought it look stupid with no red lens. Now I have custom LED brake lights to go along with the LED in my MP3 spoiler. I hope I didn't confuse anybody.

Thanks for posting. I'm guess it's not only me having problems with these lights.

It does seem odd that we have to change our wiring around to get a set of tail lenses to work.

The APC lights I have fit no problem.

I saw pictures of 2001+ models with these lights on and it looked like they had an small amber bulb in the clear hole beside the top brake light.

I would like to have all three red cirlces on when the lights are turned on. Otherwise, imo, it will look a little odd. I have asked several people where they think the bulbs should go and everyone says the same thing.

I emailed Toucan Industries ...it'll be interesting to see what they have to say ...they probably messed up the design.

Hey Foxy,

I checked out your page and you have the APC lights ...If you look at my page you can see a permanent white blotch on the inside of the carbon fiber tail lense.

I haven't heard of that happening to the chrome lights without the red strip ...maybe it's a newer production flaw.

Was your problem just moisture on the inside of the lense that cleared up? ....you don't have the permanent white blotch. On your website you were using a coin wash ...did you get moisture in there after that?

Thanks for the info,

Jonny

It's probably just the carbon fiber's that have the permanent white blotch

I wonder if the chrome with the red strip has that problem ...maybe it's that damn red strip offsetting the balance of the light. hehe

I'm wondering if the plastic cover can be bought by itself from APC, and made to fit the carbon fiber ones?

hey jonnyman,

I have the TYC gunmetal lights, I'm going back to APC chrome for two reasons:

1) The rewiring of lights is a joke. Why should we rewire our lights? They couldn't get their **** together when designing them. How pathetic! Where's our discount for finishing their product. It looks odd just like you mentioned with only two red bulbs at night. I put a yellow 194 bulb that now blinks a thousand times a second (like it's broken) because of the rewiring.

2) The fogging makes the APC tails look like nothing. Especially on a foggy, rainy, high humid day. A ******* joke.

TYC Gunmetal Taillights Suck - Dont Waste Your Money!!!

bump this thread so people can see this if their considering those taillights.

I have those tail lights as well and they fit fine....the location of the reverse lights and I believe the turn signal lights are reversed but they sockets fit in the right area. When i noticed this i thought they screwed up and i was pretty mad till i noticed that the only area that is clear is the place where the reverse lights can only go anyways......so it's all good......i like the look of these tail lights better then the APC.

protege king,

Do you want to sell your gunmetal tails? Give me a good price and I'll take them off your hands. I have the chrome ones, but I decided to upgrade to the gunmetals. They'd compliment the color off my car.

Hi Guys.

I got my money back for the carbfon fiber apc tails and have been using the first gen chrome apc tails (without the red strip on the side) for a while now and have had zero problems with them. I used a plasticine like caulking to seal the outside. I have pressure washed them and sprayed tonnes of water all over them and not a single leak. Even when it was hot it was still ok. The carbon fiber has defective plastic ..it's not even fog. I'm happy with the chrome tails for now ...matches the rest of my silver accents. I have a pic of them but it looks better in person ..they always look flat in the pictures. I saw a 2002 honda civic the other day and his driver side altezza was totally fogged up ...I thought my eye was blurry until I got close to see.

N.E.R.D. has got it right on the money. These companies just produce and sell. They make it look good on paper. Go make that honest dollar there APC and all you aftermarket bootleged companies.

And look at us, we look like suckers because every alternative is just the same ****. Excuse me for ranting but I just came home from a 13 hour shift at work. I didn't just do all that for in return bootlegged ******* accessories for my car. Feel Me?
