System cutting out...

Alright, so here's my current problem:
I'm cruising down the street, got the system playing my favorite tunes and the light ahead turns red. I press on my brake and suddenly my sound system cuts out!! It comes back on either when I'm off the brake or I accelerate. The problem first stated a while ago (about a week or two) when I braked and it completely went off and I could not get it to go back on. Well, I pulled over immediately then and checked it out. My crossover and 400watt Pyramid amp had no power, but my 360watt sub-amp had and showed signs of power. Of course, nothing was coming out of the subs because there was no signal through the crossover. The Pyramid and crossover are split off of a distribution block together, while the power lead from that distribution block and the power lead for the 360watt amp from from another distribution block.. I tried reseating the power cables, but it didn't help. I've recently retied together the turn-on lead wire at both ends also, but still no help.
Can anyone else out there give me help? I know power is getting from the battery to the trunk (where the amps are), but for whatever reason, the crossover keeps losing power. I will keep watching it and provide anymore info, but all and any help would be VERY appreciated! THanks!

Are you abruptly putting on the brakes or just slowing down? Also, where is your crossover located, and is it mounted down? Does the crossover's power shut off or is it still powered when you brake and the music still cuts off? It could be where your RCAs are plugged in. I had a Sony double cassette deck where one channel would work until i wiggled the RCA cord. This was a home stereo piece, not car, but I took the chassis off of the deck and resodered the part on the PC board where the RCA inputs connected to it and the problem went away.

The crossover is located and securely placed on the back of my subwoofer box (pointed towards the seat). All cables have been reseated: all power wires, remote power-on wire, and RCA cables. I'm gonna get my girlfriend to watch it tonight with me and see if it powers off when I push the brakes; I can't see the power light as it's behind my seat. And no, I don't have to be pushing very hard on the brakes at all for it to cut out. It's pissin' the heck out of me right now. One more note, it seems to do it more often when going downhill, but rarely (if ever) going uphill. As soon as I let up on my brakes, however, it comes back to life *shrug* I will keep checking things out, but any input would be great!

That's one way to talk her in to getting in your backseat! Only kidding of course. On a serious note, that is a good idea to see if it is cutting out. Does the box move around any in the trunk putting stress on the wires? I am sure you already checked on that.

MisterT -
The box is pretty heavy and big. If it did move, it won't move very far. Plus, I could brake pretty softly (make the car tilt only a tiny bit, and sometimes not at all) and the system will cut out. Note, this isn't even enough to move an empty CD case on my passenger seat.
I've narrowed the problem down to the system cutting out when the car tilts even slightly forward. I still need to check and see what right now is losing power. I know the crossover is at least. If it's just that, I may try recabling the power wire to it. Like I said, I believe, in a previous REPLY, when the system went off and didnt' come on, I found both the crossover and my Pyramid amp with no power, but the Sub amp still showed a power light on it (very sure of this as I checked and rechecked wires and power at that time RIGHT then. Anyways, thanks all for your help!

check you ground wires. i had this problem in my old car because the ground wasnt attched to the chassis well. everytime i hit the brakes, the wire would wiggle a bit, causing the system to lose power, the when the gas is hit, it wiggles back into place.

another idea: do your lights dim badly when the subs hit? maybe when your braking the power from the alternator isnt pushing as much....i dont really know, its just a thought, but if this is the case, you might need a capacitor or something
