Good stuff, looks like you have done your homework. Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like you were a beginner. I personally have a set of CDT "Braxial's" right now which is pretty similar, same drivers & crossover, it just happens to add a tweeter bridge. It's true, coaxes have come a long way & theoretically, their is no reason why they should sound any worst except for the fact the the tweeter does block some of the sound coming off the mids. So what is running your auxillary tweeter in your a-pillar right now? Is it running off the same crossover as for your 6.5's? From what I recall hearing, points are actually deducted for rear fill but if it sounds better, it may make up for that. Also, are your subs sealed or ported? How much airspace? Sounds like a decent system so far. We'll just wait to see how long it is before the bug bites you bad & you start spending the huge bucks & turn your car into a trailer queen.

I have the Aframe tweet running off of the same eclipse amp that is pushing the coax. Those tweets have thier own crossover Im pretty sure it has a 16db rolloff but would have to double check. The subs are in a sealed 1.3 cu ft enclosure. I have the bug alright but lack the funds, I also have a very bad puter habit

Prem, I'm glad you took no disrespect from my post - although you WILL get disrespect from so-called "hardcore" SQ competitors.

I agree that coaxes have come a long way, and I have heard some that absolutely kick ***. There is certainly nothing wrong with them - but for SQ, "stage" is so important, and is tough to achieve. Also, the second set of tweets might not help the phasing and imaging.

Not putting you down man, just offering some thoughts on competing.

I'm sure you meant 18 db/oct crossover, not 16 db/oct. As for the auxillary tweets, just make sure they are the same distance from your ear as the tweeter on the coax. That will keep them relatively in phase, don't quite recall the exact, technical explanation but the JL Audio GTI did the same thing with it's auxillary tweeters mounted up high on the dash firing straight back. 1.3 cu ft per sub should give them a nice, low Q with a flat frequency response which would be good for SQ. Well, let us all know how it goes.

yes I went and checked it is a 18db Xover. Ohh I found out why my idle was dropping, the damn alternator belt was slipping, when I got it replaced all fixed.

An aperiodic enclosure will only work if the airspace in front of the cone & the airspace behind the cone is kept seperate, otherwise, there will be cancellation. Only way I can think of making something like that work in a Protege sedan is to mount the 2 10's on the rear deck, between the rear passenger's head 7 the back window (if there's enough room) & build a tiny MDF box just under it with the aperiodic mat right below the sub so the back waves will breath into the trunk. You would have to reinforce the heck out of the rear deck to do that or it will move so much that it will again cancel itself out. I thought about doing an AP enclosure for my Focal 27K but the Qt is too high & it would be a lot of work. My plan was to vent the AP mat into my passenger side rear fender & redo the whole corner in glass & mdf.

PremO,

Lucky you got the idle drop fixed. An accessory belt is a lot cheaper & easier to fix than getting an alternator replaced . You should get a little more output out of your amps now as well.

Well I had the system hooked up to the RTA today and I had a smooth curve except one small spike in the 4k range. I am also missing 2 3db area's, if my information is correct you dont get marked off until the total is 9db and Im only at 6db so I am ok. I am getting the eclipse EQ to even out the spike and adjust a few levels to a better curve. We also offset the balance to get the sound a little better center. It also looks like my first competition will be in Aug. I will keep ya'll informed on how things are going..
