Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my head unit. The 60watts comming from the stock unit just doesn't cut it. I have a budget of about 200$ can. There are two head units I've been looking into.

Sony CDXL510X Car CD Deck
Sony's CDX-L510X lets you enjoy your CDs with powerful 50 x 4 watts of pure XPLOD power.
- I know it's listed for 230$ at the futureshop web site, but I saw this one on a A&B sound flyer for 200$. Plus we bought a lot of stuff from A&B, our computer, the big screen, and another T.V. It should be easier to get a better deal off them.
I'm a bit lured to this one cuz it says they system's designed to bring the sound off the floor where the speakers are.

Pioneer DEH-1500 CD Deck w/Tuner
The Pioneer DEH-1500 comes feature packed with 50 x 4 mosfet power
- This one sounds pretty cool. I'm captivated by the MOSFETINGness of the system. What's mosfet?

I've heard bad things about sony's car audio decks, but I really like the design and the addition of the remote. The Pioneer deck just really isn't that snazzy. But I am willing to sacrifice appearance for quality. Both these units have preouts for future expansion.

Any suggestions for a good head unit to replace my stock one?
Rem. 200$ can.

 

personally stay away from sony for many reasons... for 200 you could get a middle class kenwood that i guarantee you would be better than a sony...

 

I agree. IMO, SONY SUCKS! I hear of so many people having problems with their products. Maybe that is why they call it XPlod, because as soon as you hook their **** up, it explodes! Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer, JVC to name a few are good bets.

go on e-bay. Quality pioneers for around 120-150 U.S.
