I did the same thing with my tailights and to me it looks better than atezzas. It was easy and only took about 10mins.
Most ImportantBefore I give you directions on how to install them you have to change the fuse in your fusebox from 15amp to 30amp. If you don't you be driving down the street one night, then click, all your lights go out except your headlights. Even the indiglo lights inside the car goes out.
Well this is going to be hard to explain. Anywho, you have to lift up the carpet padding in the trunk. Now you have several plastic plugs to to unhook along the wall of your trunk to the backside of the taillights. I think it was about ten, not sure though. (Man, why do you have to live in Cali? I could have done it for you.)Man this is hard. All I can say is pull out all the plugs pertaining to the taillights. Once you can see the back of the taillights there are about 2-3 screws to unscrew. Unscrew those. Then there is this white plastic plug/screw to get out. Warning:this plug is hard as **** to get out. You have to squeeze these 2 pegs on the white plug the push or pull it out. Then just pull the taillights out and replace the bulb. I hope this helps. Its was a lot easier for me to do it than to explain it. Tomorrow I'll check my trunk and try to clear up anything that is confusing.
Don't forget to change your fuse. My lasted about 1 month before it went out an night. I was unknowingly driving with no taillights and front corner lights. I thought it was just in the inside. Until my friend told me to turn my lights on.

I'm not sure if you were talking about the front also so I put the directions for that too.('99-'00 pro)
All you do is pop the hood. Look at the corner light and find the screw that connects it to the car on the bar. Unscrew it. Pull out the corner light. (if this is your first time pulling out the corner light you may have to pull hard). Then unscrew they gray part which holds the bulb and switch them.

Really? I didn't know that.
When my friend put my alarm in he may have changed the wiring though. I'm sure he would have told me if I was doing any danger to my car since this is his profession.
I'll go back to his shop just to make sure.

i dont know what you guys are talkin about.....i think you got it all wrong....everything on my car is hyper white now....What i am talkin about is the side turn signals on my door. You know..the new side markers that was upgraded in 2002. thanks for all the trouble you guys went through explaining about the fuse, but i just wanna know how to remove the side turn signals so i can change the bulb. THanks homies. Sorry for the mix up

the side marker lights just in front of the doors just pop out....they are held in with tension clips on the light itself....check the manual you got with the car...it should detail how to change the lights....maybe. but I can't remember 100% which way it works...you either push back at the front of the light and lift out...or the other way around...push forward at the rear of the light and lift up......its one or the other.

I know you don't have to go under the fender because at our protege meet ppl were popping there's off like was already loose. There is a special technique to it. I don't know how to do it since I have a 2000, but I've seen a lot of pple do it. Have you tried a search?
If I'm not mistaking, when I saw someone do it they just pulled it out a little and there is a clip you press then pull out. You may need a screw driver to push the clip if you have real short finger nails.
