Talking Side Markers/turn signals

Does anybody know how to make the sidemarkers/turnsignals on the P5 2002.5 turn on with the other sidemarkers besides blinking only?

If you just want them to stay on at all times and not blink?

Someone posted this a while back. The instructions are for a Miata, but it should work the same for the P5.

The mod makes the bumper markers flash WITH the turns signal during the day, and when you turn the headlights on at night, the markers illuminate (like normal) but flash OPPOSITE of the turn signals. Sweet little upgrade.

I have not tried it yet (soon, definitely though), but if you do, let us know how it turns out!

So just like the front signals. Yeah I want to do the same. I'm prett sure if you splice a wire into each of the three wires going into the front turn signal and run those into the two wires of the side markers it should work. Im was going to do that to my car. But I am going to be installing my M3 Mirrors which have a turn signal on them so I will just use my side markers to stay on when my lights are on. So as long as you have the ground to the ground and the blinking wire and constant wire connected to the power wire of the side marker. It should work. Cause the wire will always be on and when the blinking wire turns on it will cause the bulb to flash and be brighter while it flashes. So Im am prett sure it will work.

No, not quite - the front signals are a dual-filament bulb. When the parking lights are on, that's one filament, and the second illuminates for turn signals, making them brighter. It's not due to "extra power"

The side bulbs are single-filament, and can only be on or off. This mod makes the bumper markers go OFF when the turn signal flashes ON, so they flash opposite of the front turn signals (at night). They flash WITH the turn signals during the day.

There is no way to get them to act JUST like the turn signals without installing extra wiring and a dual filament bulb & socket.

I don't like side markers that blink. It looks kinda tacky. If you want lights that blink, might as well get some euro fender marker lights, they will look nice.
Hey - whatever you like, that's what it's all about!

I've felt since day 1 that if I MUST have the dumb-looking bumper lights, they might as well flash and actually do something.

I re-wired mine to flash with the parking lights ONLY - meaning, they do not illuminate at night, and only flash. But I'm looking forward to doing the mod on that Miata site - a much nicer way to go, IMO.

Fender lights AND the bumper lights (like on the 2002.5 and 2003 P5's) is just too much, IMO. I don't care for the side markers on the newer P5s - they look okay on the sedans, because the sedans have no bumper lights (required amber is built into the headlight, unlike the P5 headlights).

Just my opinions. Do (or don't do) whatver you like (or don't like) .
