Shift **** Question

Ok, first off, let me appoligize in advance for this kinda stupid question but I don't know the answer (hopefully you guys will)

If I want to get an aftermarket shift **** (maybe a shorter one)
are they univeral? or what? how do i find out if they fit?

If they are (or arn't) universal what are some companies that make shift *****? (besides momo and sparco)

Is there anything else I need to know about them?

Thanks!

There are 2 types, universal and application specific.

Pretty much all Momo and Sparco ***** are universal. They have little screws that hold the shift **** onto the shifter.

Application specific are ones that thread directly onto the shifter.

If you do a search, you will find the size and thread pitch for the Protege shifter.

Z, since you pave a P5, the threads on the shifter are 10 mm X 1.25 thread pitch. so if you want a **** that will just screw on like your stocker that is the size the threads need to be.

if you want to look at a large varity of shift *****...just go to your search engine of choice...yahoo, google, etc.... and type in "shift ****" and hit the search button and start checking out sites....its as easy as that....it will give you a good idea of what you are going to pay for the different styles/makes as well.

Z...what results did u wanted from changing *****? to get a shorter shifter feel? just want something different?
cuz right now i'm in the process of getting a momo-like shift **** (with set screws)...and when i do, my friend and i will be taking apart my console and "shorten" the shaft of my shifter, to get a custom-short shifter.

If that's what you're looking at getting done, then I'd go with the ones that has set screws. If you just want to change the appearance of your shifter, then get something that's universal and screws right on (there are tons of brand names out there with universal fits)

My shift **** screws onto the shifter and i like it, my brother on the other hand bought one with three screws that you tighten onto the shifter and it comes loose all the time. He's always having to tighten those three damn screws.

Tell your brother to use a little lock tite on the screws. That should stop the screws from backing out.
