I could definately be wrong though
So what you're saying is...you have to make mods to the existing grill (which is p5/mp3 only) or you have to buy the bumper..which is from a p5/mp3. So this implies that they only make one grill..which is indeed for the mp3/p5 only.

Here is a responce I got from Richard at mazdastuff regarding OEM grills
the Protege, Protege 5, and MP3 all together, and then splits it up by VIN, but here's my best guess. If you're looking for a replacement for your car, I should be able to figure out which one you need by your VIN. If you're looking to put on a different grill than what your car came with, try and get me a VIN of a car that has the grill your looking for. I noticed that the Protege and Protege 5 have different looking grills, and the one I think is for the MP3 comes in colors where the others don't, so I
am unsure if you can swap them anyway.

2003 Protege grill BN7H-50 710A $47
2003 Protege 5 grill B30P-50-710 $100
2001 MP3 grill BP7H-50-710-XX $62 (XX depends on the color code)

thanks, Richard
From this it sounds like there is definitly two grills, one for the P5 and one for the sedans. There is also a colored one for the MP3's (I think that's for the MSP, cause MP3's are black where as MSP's are colored.) which the part number is really close, but not the same.

Richie said to ask the parts guy to find out if the sedans grill are the same as the P5/MP3, he did not say anything about having a grill for the sedan, just to find out if a P5/MP3 one would fit. From this info, I don't think there is a direct replacement for the sedan grills.

I'll try to meet up with an MP3 and swap our grills to see if they match. Might be a few weeks till then. If anyone else can do it earier, please do.
