saw a sweet conversion

Ok, I was reading and saw that someone mentioned putting BMW headlights on their scort. I went to the feoa.net website and searched, and found a pic of someone that did that conversion.

Holy crap that looks sweet. I want to go with a different front end to stand out more, and that looks like the one I am gonna go with.

http://feoa.net/modules.php?name=For...10dfe79e01daf1

its like the 3rd post in some gurus profile at the bottom. Anyone tried to do this on their pro/323?

I searched but found nothing on our site.

You need the 92-97 BMW 3 series headlamps. I am going to some junk yards monday to look to see if there are any. Probably not, but never hurts to try.

Since I got a 323, I need a protege hood, and Grille to make it work. The 323's headlamps angle down, and the hood dips down to make the grille shorter.

Exclamation

That's nice. Mazda may be affiliated with Ford now, but when they produced our generation of the Pros, Ford had nothing to do with any of it.

Ever wonder why the Escort GT has -our- engine in it, or why the Escorts look similar to our 1st gen Pros? ****, even Mercury took advantage of the situation.

Ford was sucking at the time for a econ car. Mazda provided an answer. Course, they used their extremely economical 1.9L engine that only produced 88hp in their LX and DX Escorts, but that's besides the point.

I'd be up for the conversion eventually, but it would all depend on how much wiring changes would need to be done, not to mention the hood/grill/whatever other body mods.

How would the wires have to be split?

I know since the Beamer lights are a 2 bulb system, you would have to split out the hi beam light wire and wire it to the other bulb. Any one know which is the low beam and wich is the high beam, or would my best bet be to use a volt meter and test for power on low beams, then on hi beams, and see which one it is?

Thanks for any answers.

Well, I was more concerned that the bulbs on the bimmer lights would pull more power than the protege lights, therefore leaving the possibility of a wiring harness meltdown.

IIRC, the low beam bulb wire is red/white at the headliamp, the black is ground, so the other (green maybe) is the high beam bulb.

You can use 2 relays per side (4 total) one for low beam and one for high beam. The rest is pretty simple.

Mercury has always had Ford designs and ford motors. look at a mercury sable, 90 to 96 i'd assume, and look at the ford taurus.. very similar cars, have the same exhuast and engine sound at start up and idle. it's a nice form of cross breeding.. just like since 1993, there has been a Toyota Cavalier offered in japan, nothing on it is toyota except a couple exterior mods, everything else is imported chevy parts, engines, etc. may see simliar lines between acura and honda, toyota and lexus, and nissan and infinity. as far as angel eye lights are concerned, i remember this was posted at some point, but look at this http://www.geocities.com/crx_auto/angel_eyes.htm i mean, doesn't work ideally with our single bulb casings, but who cares, just an idea.
peace
