rms vs. peak

I am looking into buying an amp for my door speakers and am not sure how much power to run to them. All four speakers are 40 watt rms and 150 peak , but when I buy an amp what do I go for the rms or the peak?

always RMS... peak values don't exsist... they are made up by some guy working in a dark room with no window.. do not trust PEAK values.. they are DUMB

if you have 40wRMS speakers i would say throw 50W RMS at them from the amp, alot of amps are 200W rms x 4 ch. or if you want you can go cheap and get a 2ch amp and run each side in parrallel, just make sure the amp can handle 2ohm stereo (equiv. 4ohm mono) and i am positive almost all amps can
