removing parking brake handle

I went to a Circuit City and found a cool parking handbrake cover made by Ractive. I tried taking off my handle but there was no physical way that I could take off the factory installed cover without breaking the plastic. I tried twisting it, turning it, and tried removing the screws (but, of course, there's no screws in it). I have a Protege5 and I'm wondering if there are any suggestions on removing the cover? The rest of the job seems easy from there on out.

honestly, just leave it the way it is.. ractive parts aren't worth your cash..let alone the time you waste considering their products,

thanks D 'n V

Thanks, the more I look at the dimpled handle, the more I can say, "What other car has a cool looking handle like this?". Mazda did the interior right with the P5!

honestly, even if the p5 interior isn't what you'd like it to be, i can suggest this, check out a few aftermarket companies and what they have to offer, just stay away from APC, 3A Racing, Toucan/Ractive.. i mean, typically their parts are sub par. Momo makes some nice interior parts, however, i would know where to point you except, try http://www.partsexpress.com or http://www.expressparts.com lol, yes they're two different companies. http://www.carparts.com works as well (it's in conjunction with JCWhitney. as far as taking apart the p5 interior, i'm no expert on that, just look at how the trim and console pieces interlink and over lap, with the ebrake handle, you may have to take apart the console to get to it, but unfortuneatly, couldn't tell you how to go about replacing an ebrake handle.
peace
