I was browsing through nopi when i came across these "silicon inpregnated wiper blades" from what they said it sounds like theres a Rain-x type compound in the blades, so everytime you wipe, it applies more rain-x....there made by PIAA, so they cant be total crap right?

not much to go on, but it sounds almost worth a shot...$20 a piece...any thoughts??

I would go get some cheaper silicon blade, get the 1 gallon jug of rain-x windshield wiper fluid (like a buck at wally world) and call it a day. For the price of one rain-x wiper, you can replace all three of your wipers, get two jugs of fluid and not have to worry about it.

 

linuxninja says they work, but the cost is just not worth it.. just get the old fashioned rainx liquid and put it on your windshield! it's cheap!

I personally wouldn't want to use Rain-X again. I used it once on one of my old cars and I got caught in a really heavy rainstorm about 80 miles away from home. It was right at dusk so everyone was turning on thier headlights and all I could see was a terrible glare. By the time I got home I had the worst headache of my life. The next day I cleaned that off and never had any problems again.

did you clean your windshield before you put it on and did you follow the instructions when you put it on. i've used it for years and it works great if done properly

Not to keep the dead alive, but I'll just add that I haven't found the PIAA silicon wipers to be anymore effective than normal and cheaper premium wipers used with Rain-X. My passenger side PIAA has "curved" and lifted a bit so the middle of the swipe isn't getting cleared. Have had the PIAA's for about 10 months.

 

i've had my rain-x wipers for 2 months and so far so good. used in conjunction with rain-x treatment, it works really well. but then again, $3 wipers at 2 months would work well. i'll post back in the summer when monsoon season hits these parts.

 

The silocone bades at Walmart work really well.
