Question about stock P5 Panasonic HU

Hi, just got my P5 today, already thinking about adding a CD changer. However, I'd like to keep the factory head unit for appearance.

I believe the stock head unit is made by Panasonic, is that correct? The number on mine in 1165. If this is the case, can I then buy the Panasonic CXDP610 6 disc changer, and connect it to the factory HU through an OEM interface adapter? Has anyone tried this? This should let me control the changer directly from the HU.

I looked on Crutchfield but I don't see interface adapters for Mazda. Does anyone know if someone makes one for Mazda, or if I can perhaps use an adapter for another type of car, e.g. VW or Toyota?

Thanks
