The Protege Body Kit by Wings West.....few questions

Ok it says ***MP3 ONLY***

Does that mean it wont fit on the ES? They both have similar body types, but i just wanna know for sure.

Also, has anyone else got this kit? Does it come with the MP3 style front bumper?

as far as i knew it would fit on any third gen pro well except the rear on the P5. as for the front end its a little diff then the MP3 the edges are a little sharper around the lower grill for less drag and it has fins?? i guess i dont remember what they are called.

I always wondered about that too. protege5online.com said that you need to get a "bumper bar" from mazda if you wanted the front bumper to fit on an ES. Now what in hell is a bumper bar and how much does it cost?

A bumper bar is the metal peice that is the structural part of the bumper and it's bolted to the subframe. The bumpers nowadays are just cosmetic parts, not structural. Sometimes you can trim your ES bumper for the kit to fit, but I don't know if that's the case with WW and your ES. Personally, I think it's an ugly kit. But, you drive your car, not me. I would do some wheels/tires/suspension before I dumped money on some kit. And if you do get it, I think it would look a lot better if it was moulded to your body, so there were no attachment points.

the kit will work, but will need some extra's.
you will need the upper mp3 grill(you can use existing one but has gap),and bumper bar, which is outrageous. i paid like 280 i think for it, and it is more styrofoam than metal. and people say you dont need the inner fenderwells, well you do. i found out the hard way, being that it is a larger bumper your old ones dont go down far enuff to attach to new one(not much gap- but enuff).
first day i had it out of shop befor i new, and was to far from my house cuz i had to drive 300 miles(didnt trust the beater!). when i got up to around 90 the wind got it and tucked them backwards and scraped them the whole way!! didnt have any thing in my car to cut them off, or tie them up.
didnt have time to stop, so i just drove faster to rub them down, and cranked my stereo

send me a PM if your looking for a place to get the necessary mazda parts cheaper. if it is made for an MP3, the rebar will defanitely need to be replaced, but dont pay $280 for it like the guy who posted above. i got my rebar for 150.

trimming the reenforcement bar is probably not the best idea, its worth the money on getting a new one. if you were to get into an accident and had a modified rebar, you would be in trouble as far as getting the damages covered.

bumper reinforcment bar

Hey mtbfreak40, let me know when you can get the bumper bar and the total. I will get it as soon as you tell me some info. I have been to lazy, and with lack of money to go to the dealer and pay $280 for it. Thanks.

Instead of sharper it should say "Clunkier"
lol, just my opinion
I love the hood though, and how it's painted. I wanna do that!
