Power cable from motor to driver; where to put it through ?

Power cable from motor to driver; where to put it through ?

Hi

Can somebody tell me where to put through
a 35mm^2 (I think gauge 2) from the motor
to the driver ? Is there a whole somewhere ?

Try to find a grommet in the firewall to pass it through. 2 gauge is pretty thick but not as thick as 1/0. If you can't find one, you will have to drill a hole in the firewall. Make sure you paint the exposed metal and use a rubber grommet to keep out moisture.

In the course of trying to fix a grounding problem, I ended up running a new power line from the battery to the amp. I found a great little white oval plastice cover on the firewall, straight back from the battery (in stock location). It goes right through to up under the dash on the drivers side. There's a rubber/carpet oval flap covering things up on the interior side.

I put a 4 gauge wire through ther with lots of room to spare. Hopefully this helps.

I have a run of 4 ga. going through a stock grommet in the firewall close to the underneath of the glovebox. I'm replacing it with 1/0 ga. tomorrow as I'm gettin ready to do my subs and ****. Doing a run of 1/0 ga. to a distro block, split off 2 ga. to my sub amp, and 4 ga. to my mid amp. I like to make sure I have an ample path for current.

Sweed - be carefull about going to such a strong gauge - having too thick of a wire could be just overkill if the length of the run isn't very long. For optimum performance from cabling, there's a recommended gauge based on the wattage and length of the run.

Here's a good site with a chart that lists the recommended gauges for lengths vs wattage

0 awg = 325 amps
1 awg = 250 amps
2 awg = 200 amps
4 awg = 125 amps
6 awg = 80 amps
8 awg = 50 amps
10 awg = 30 amps
12 awg = 20 amps
14 awg = 15 amps
16 awg = 7.5 amps

Thanks Sandman, but I've been playing with andinstalling stereos for almost 6 years now. Having a larger than required run of wire is not going to hurt anything. All it is providing a highway for electrons to pass through. The larger the path, the less resistance, the more current you can pull through it. Even if I don't max out the the wire's current capability there are no ill affects.

As for my equipment, I have 3 10" JL Audio W3's, going into a ported box tomorrow. I have a Phoenix Gold MPS2500, and 2240. With a Phoenix Gold EQ. All my power wire, RCA's and connectors are all Phoenix Gold. Eclipse in dash 6 disc changer for my head unit. MB Quart reference components (6.5's and tweets) in all 4 doors. I dunno I think that's it. Uhh wait I gots an Optima battery and a Phoenix 1.0 farad cap. Hopefully I can get it to work like I did in my Eclipse. We'll just have to see how the harmnics are in the Juggalo Wagon. I'll let ya know how it goes later this weekend.
