powder coated wheels

has anyone here thought about powder coating this stock rims? this is a popular thread over at clubsi.com and thought it might be cool and cheaper than buying new rims.

i was thinking of going gunmetal finish.

I haven't thought about it......mine are polished...but it is certainly an option to those of you with the stock wheels in silver...and want either a darker or totally different color. I am sure if you wanted to take the time and trouble you could even have the stock wheels bead blasted....rubbed out ....and anodized too. its just all a matter of personal choice...and how many bucks you want to spend for something different and unique.

Yeah, but in this case it's powdercoating them into another colour.
I called for some quotes and it's about 80-110 CAD per wheel with colour of my choice. I havent's seen actual quality and I don't know if old coating is stripped, but guy on the phone told me that they do lots of rims and always have samples.
Check in yellowpages for "metal finishining" or something like that.

I like it. But can't decide what color would go best with the midnight blue. I like white but the bronze or gold color looks good with the blue of the WRX or that Jap Pro5. I need Paintshop skills.

I thought about it, but I was quoted at $80 per wheel for the prep and powdercoat. By the time you pay for the tires to be remounted, you might as well buy new wheels...
