Plastic Triangles

I am putting in a component set up front in my Pro5, and i am planning on putting my tweeters in the plastic triangles just like everybody has. Only thing is that my car is leased so i didnt want to drill, but i figured i could just replace the triangles at lease end. How much can they really cost?? I checked it out. almost $20 each!!! one is $18.48 and the other is $16.68 (i wonder why one cost more?). I dont know if i want to pay $40 for 2 little triangles. So i was wondering if anyone knows any kind of two sided tape or anything like that, that i might be able to stick the tweeter on there with. Has to be pretty strong. Any suggestion would be great!! Thanx

Tap would work but then you would have your speaker wire showing

i figure tape would work, if i can find any good two sided tape (not an easy task). I figure if i put my tweeter low enough in the corner the wire will be pretty much hidden from view when i run it behind the triangle.

With the doors opening and closing all the time, and especially if you live somewhere that gets really cold, or hot, or both, tape probably won't last long. If you are upgrading your sound system, is another $40 that much more to spend to avoid any problems? Just a thought.

Weebee....

If you decide to go the "tape" route, the best type of tape to use can be found at your local Hobby shop. Ask for "Servo Tape". Really good stuff that will deal with our great markham weather. Do you know where Pinnacle Hooby is? its at Markham and 16th, I get all my RC car stuff there.

Are you comin out on Sunday?

i agree, tape is not a good idea, just think of how many times your door opens and closes....although if you must, 3M has a great automotive 2 sided tape that will do the trick. You can find it at autobody suppliers or bodyshops. (used for moldings, kits, etc) make sure to clean both the triangle and tweeter real well with alcohol first.

Well, if you don't wanna spend $40 for new triangles, how about $10 for swap meet tweeters to replace the good ones you'll take out when you sell it. Besides, why would you want to give it back i've had mine for 11 years and still haven't thought of selling it

$40 is a lot to me cause i am a broke college student and I already have all my stereo equipment from my last car. Just a matter of tranfering it over to the new P5. So i want to spend as little as possible.

I understand. However, one last thought, if you do find some type of tape or adhesive that will hold for any length of time, how are you going to clean it off?

I imagine it cant be all that hard to clean it off. I am starting to think i might just drill, make it easier.

I put the component set in, and didnt drill the triangles yet, i stuck them. But i couldnt find anywhere to mount the crossovers, so i ended up drilling the door panel.

Drilling the door panel, or the sheet metal underneath? Why would you need to drill the panel itself?

i needed somewhere to mount the crossovers. So i put them in the pocket of the door, and i needed to drill a hole in the door panel to get the wires through. Oh and i just finished putting my deck in about 10 mins ago. Cant wait to get my amp and 12" sub in the back. Maybe tomorrow.
