Painting Calipers, Drums, etc.

What exactly can you paint down there? I know you can paint the drum and caliper. Can you paint the rotor or is that pointless? What else can you paint? Thanks.

LOL yes painting your rotor is useless since the brakepads will rip the paint off when you brake. you can paint/powder coat/polish your rims, get crossdrilled rotors

I was thinking of painting my rotor itself but just the edge and the center of the hub. However I figured it would take longer than what I was willing to spend. As it was I painted my calipers, I have no drums and the rear dust shield. Looks great now.

If you paint rotor parts....

If you paint rotor parts, use high temp paint. Rotors can get real hot, and body paint will probably burn off or discolor. If you buy spray paint specifically labelled for calipers, it has a high temperature rating. Same for exhaust system paint.

randallb, so you're saying that if I get a high enough temperature paint, I can paint the rotors or no? B/c they really would come off when braking wouldn't they?

You can't paint any surface of the rotor that contacts the brake pads.

But you can paint the edge and the center hub, if that's your thing.

Just don't paint anything on the rotor that is shiny and you're okay.
