mine plays everything except MP3's. I had a Sony head unit(I know BAD) that I bought in 96-97 for my 626, and it would play burned disks fine.
Funny thing is about finding stuff out. I bought a DVD player that was just supposed to play DVD's and that was it, and it turned out to play burned stuff including MP3's. And then it blew up. I think it was a pioneer.

Why would you want to play .wav files in your car? Any burner should burn automatic into .cda even if it was a .wav file.

Stay away from Sony X-plode, I repeat stay away from Sony.
Get a pioneer instead, best bang for the buck IMO.

I second that.

Well, technically a .cda (cd audio) file is just a .wav file with different headers on the file. They're the same format.

yes technicaly a cda file is an uncompressed sound file with a sampling rate of 44.1khz (normaly cd players can only handle this sampleing rate)

99 stock cd player

The 99 Stock cd player that i had played cdr's flawlessly, but didn't play cdrws

but then around the beginning of this year 2002, (had my pro since may 99) it started saying some error message, with every cd i put in, real or cdr, when we took it to the dealer I had accidently left a cdr in the stock cd drive, so the dealer told us that the problem was that the cd player doesn't play cdrs, and cuz I've been playing cdrs, that screwed it up.

but here is what i think
the dealer couldn't diagnose the problem, so then when they saw that I had put a cdr in it, and they don't say anywhere that it is cdr compatible, they blamed it on the cdrs, even though it played them perfectly for almost 3 years.

so I dunno, they ordered a new deck for us, looks same, and first thing i did was play cdrs lol,

so i dunno, it plays cdrs, even though i had that problem

I don't know about my P5. I haven't tried it yet. I'll see tonight!
Same here. My '00 plays CD-R, but not CD-RW.

I would have to disagree. CD-R and CD-RWs are not that similar. I have lots of CD players that would play CD-Rs but not CD-RWs. Playing CD-RWs require a higher power from the CD pickup lens.

I would only say most CD players will play finalized CD-Rs w/o much problems.
