Opinons on AMP for P5 (Rockfor Fosgate Power 100HD)

Hello,

I might have the oppurtunity to purchase a Rockford Fosgate Power 100HD amplifier. The cost is $100cnd.
http://streetsound.ty.nu/man/Manuale...g/100HD-OM.pdf

My intention is to add this to the stock HU via line inputer converters to use with the existing speakers.

I'm not looking for audiophile quality obviously I just want something to help the existing sound system out a little bit.

If anyone from the Edmonton area knows of a place to get an inexpensive 4ch amp, let me know...or if anyone is selling one.

Jay

are you sure you even need the converters? if what I read is correct....that amp accepts speaker level inputs...which means you don't NEED the converters....worth looking into...save you a few bucks.

I found out the AMP is 10 years old. So I decided not to buy it.

Thanks for the reply though.

but check e-bay too. find one you like that fits your budget.
No interest on changing the stock HU. But thanks.

I added an amp and still have my stock speakers. It is definitely a worthwhile improvement for those of us who want to keep the stock deck/factory appearance and maybe don't have the budget allocated to do the whole mess at once. The results WILL be better with better speakers plus the amp, but I think that powering the system up is a good starting point. Just don't overdo the power with the factory speakers I have a 4x35W Alpine V12 that is about right for what I want from my system.

Dale.

What amp are you using?

Thanks for the input.

Jay, what you need is a 4 channel amp that has line imputs OR if you are going to add a sub to the back a 5 channel amp. IF you don't want to add a sub, try the Alpine VPower MRP-F200. its a 40WX4 and runs about $200, OR if you want to add a sub they have a 5 channel that is their MRP-F320, and its about $250, it pushes an additional 125W to a seperate channel for your sub.

its not going to be anything to take you to compititions or anything...but it will thump pretty good.

and I believe that is you spent the money to upgrade your door speakers to something a bit better than the paper coned things that come stock you will notice the difference.

I am in the process of doing this very upgrade and have added Rockford Fosgate speakers to all the doors...AND added the sub to the trunk....its a JL Audio 10w0, and I got it with an enclosure straight from JL Audio, its part number is CS110R-W0.

Jay, my amp is an older Alpine V12. MRVF3512 or something (it's about 5 years old, I don't remember). Sir Nuke's suggestions sound pretty good to me too.

For Alpine, the power series is smaller and less expensive, the V12 series is bigger, possibly more powerful and more expensive for a given wattage (different construction I believe).

Any decent 4 or 5 channel amp (Jensen, Alpine, JBL, Rockford, Kenwood, etc. etc. etc.) would do. Just shop around at any of the local shops for price and features, and get some opinions from people you know if possible. I would go for one that fits the space that you want to mount it in, and has built in crossovers so you can set your system up properly for a sub if you go that route eventually. If you are like me and want something nice but won't ever set foot in a competition ring, there are lots of choices. 40-50Watts per channel should be more than sufficient for most speaker sets too if you upgrade.
