Need help with stock head unit and subs

Hey all,

I just got my MP5 and love it. I have a decent amp/ sub combo from my last car and I was wondering if the HU has pre outs?

How hard is it to get to the deck?

Thanks

Justin

The stock deck doesn't have preouts. Check your amp and see if it accepts high leve inputs. If it does, just run the speaker outs from the HU into it. If it doesn't, you'll have to get a high level adaptor and run RCA's to the amp.

What about a remote turn on lead?

Is there a remote turn on lead on the factory deck?

This dude lists all but one pin on the factory wiring harness (I forget his name, but this is his site http://www.astolfo.com/p5/p5install.asp). Anyone know if this is could be a remote lead for a power antenna or other device?

So do I just splice into one of the speaker lines? I've never wired an amp like this before.

Thanks

Justin

I would put the RCA inline convertor in you can just about have any stereo shop do it for a few bucks including pulling out your deck, at the same time you could have them do the amp acc wire
unless you get ahold of the wiring schematics

It looks like Hawkeye was able to "open" the factory plug to get access to the individual wires in the plug itself. If you are able to pry open the plug, you should be able to remove the speaker level out put wires from the plug (left/right, front/rear). You can then insert your own speaker wire into thje plug and insert the plug back into the factory deck. Run the speaker wire back to your amp to the speaker level inputs.

Either way should be fine -line level converter or the speaker level inputs on the amp. If you have a line level converter installed, make sure it's halfway decent (I know BestBuy and Circuit City have a lot of Jensen accessories -just make sure none of them end up in your car).
