Need help putting gauges plates on

Hi. I have a mazda protege 2000 lx. I just bought some white guage faces. I tried to install them but i broke one of my needles. Can someone tell me how i can put it on. Do i have to slide them ontop or can i open up the cluster and remove the needles and place the faces on then put the needles back. Someone help me out. Thanks

Welcome to the broken needle club!

Don't feel bad, this was done by many of us including myself, TWICE! The gauges you bought I assume are the older style meaining the whole face lights up. There is a new reverse style that looks better in my opinion where the gauges light up reverse blue and red, the faces are blue/gray during the day, and they slip over the needles. The older faces needed to be cut or by drilling the holes bigger. Anyway, I replaced my gauge cluster from a salvage yard (anywhere from $50-$100) because you have better shot of walking on water before fixing the needles. If you have any other questions do a "SEARCH" before posting, this will save yourself time. Here's a couple of links that should help: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...&threadid=5212

guages

i myself am a guage warrior -=( i busted out my temp guage.. sucks.. anyhow.. the way i finally got it to work was to take an exacto knife and to cus slits into them.. give for a little more play when u are sliding them over the needles.. I DONT KNOW IF CUTTING WILL EFFECT INDIGLOS THO. might want to call the manufacturer. -=)
