nakamichi resistence

nakamichi sub dvc 2x6ohms, 400w rms@ ?? ohms? the rated 6?? if i wired it in parallel that would bring it down 2 a 3 ohm load, so i could use a 200w@4 amp on it and get a little more then 200w to it since it would be at 3 ohms...do i have this right?

First off, you are talking about Impedance, not Resistance. Yes, when you would run the 2 coils in parallel, you would get an effective impedance of 3 ohms. Now, when you hook it to the amp, be sure that the amp is stable to 2 ohms and not just 4. You want that added protection over overload.

Agreed - a 2 ohm stable amp IS the way to go, however I have read that many of the more rugged amps that are only rated for 4 ohms bridged can take 3 ohms just fine - as long as there is adequate airspace for cooling the amp - and a cooling fan can't hurt either.
