Two words.

EXCELLENT JOB!!!

It's hard to believe that this is your virgin fiberglass project!

Now what amps are you going to use to drive that awesome looking thing? When are you going to get them installed and give us some reviews????

Hurry up!

I am going out on a limb for amps.

I ordered a couple of cheapies, because the price was SOOO good, and the overall opinion that I got was that they just might be a very solid bargain:

Lanzar Vibe.

Bought a 4 channel (125 watts x 4 @ 4 ohms) and a 2 channel (300 x 2 @ 2 ohms / 600 x 1 @ 4 ohms). Cost? $130 each. Shipped. Couldn't resist trying them.

I'm hopeful they will be decent. One factor that seems promising is that the specs I listed above are RMS values. They also list MAX ratings (at the same impedances) of about double that. For sure that is unuseable, distorted power, but if they deliver even close to the RMS ratings, I'll be fine. I only need about 75-90 watts x 4, and 250-275 x 2 for the subs. So even if they are overrated and don't actually do 125 x 4 or 300 x 2, I *should* still get all the power I need. Time will tell....

Amps should be here on Friday. I might just quick install one to my existing wiring just to test the subs out. We'll see.....

No, not at all. Sorry if I sound too opinionated in past posts.

badass. Looks clean and you still have plenty of room in the hatch to store stuff. Where is teh amp? on the back of the seat?
Does it thump good with those Infinitys andthe small enclosures?

Great Work!

Great Work!
Thanks - I still don't know how it sounds, as I don't have my amps installed yet! I'm going to be putting amps under the front seats.

If my past experience with Infinity is any indication, this should sound REALLY good. I used to have a single Infinity Perfect 10, in a different homemade box. But that box is HELLA small - I think it's probably .5 cubes BEFORE the sub. Again, space was my major concern - but that box was all MDF, so it would up really small. Plus the magnet on the Perfect is quite large. Even though that box was FAR too small, the sub still sounded pretty good! Not very loud, but it did thump - at least some.

This enclosure really isn't as small as it may seem. Since I removed the jack panel and glassed into there, I gained a nice little airspace. I'm totally estimating, and I will probably measure it soon, but I'd guess I probably have close to 1.5 cubes in there. Maybe a little less. I'm expecting it to sound really good - I am hoping! I'm not a huge bass-head, but I do like the thump. We'll see!

If you have snow in winter don't put your amps under the seats if so be very carfull with the humidity .... Just an idea ! Under the seats is a very good place for water/snow/humidity the back passengers can drop some water or snow there. I had a very bad experience with this location for amps.

Just my 2 cents.

David

I had an amp mounted under the seat before I got my alpine HU. Had it there for a while and I live in Mass and we get pleanty of snow and humidity. I had no problem. I had the amp mounted on a 3/4 piece of wood to prevent any problems if water was go get close to the amp. I also had to re direct the air duck under the seat so the amp had pleanty of room under the seat and to keep the warm air from getting blown on the amp. The only thing with mounting the amp under the seat is that it can get in the way of people's feet in the back seat. They just had to put up with it when riding in my car. Waiting to hear how good this piece sounds.........

Very Nice my friend! I hope you are pleased also. It sounded like you had fun (as much as one can with the heat and fumes) while doing the project- which is just as it should be! Pratice some more, and then start doing fiberglass for friends. Heck you know I do stuff still for pizza and beer! Once you know stuff like this you have a moral obligation to improve the general lot of society, or at least you buddies...
Let us all know how the rest of the project evolves, and I look forward to you opinions on the Lanzer hardware- I would trust your opinion on them.

Thanks Blue - good to hear from you!

I'm guessing you haven't left for Iraq yet, huh?

Well, stay safe over there when you do go. I'm sure you'll be helping to build a better society for those poor people.
