Mounting an AMP and stock speaker question

I went to a local stereo performance shop thinking about an upgrade in my stock system. I wanted an amp (4 channel at least 50 watts per) and 4 new highend speakers. The problem is mounting the amp. I have one child and a new one on the way, and I need all my interior space. The shop wanted to mount the amp on the back on the rear seats but that would be getting in the way of cargo and a pain when founding down the seats. Has anyone out there found an unobtrusive place to mount an amp that doesn't take up interior room. The shop claimed there wasn't enough space under the seats to mount one. Also, I like the 6 disk head unit that I have so I don't want to change it..has anyone really noticed a big enough diffence to warrant the expense from simply switching out the stock speakers without adding an amp. The shop didn't think it was really worth it.

Thanks

i put the amp under the passenger seat.

I mounted my amp to the driver's seat (not the floor). It is not the easiest location to get to if you need to make adjustments to the gains and such, but I have a 4 channel amp and it fit fine there with no impact on seat adjustability, and it is less visible than the floor mounting. If have done something like this in three of my last 5 vehicles now. No need to cut the floor duct either. If you get a smaller amp, it should fit. There are several other people who have mounted amps on the floor on this board like alcoholiday has.

Dale.

This is a new p5

The car is a new P5. If others are getting an amp under the seat perhaps, I need to look for another shop with better skills. All the in stock amps at this store would not fit. Anyone have any experience with the new really small Blaupunkt amps?

Geezus, they must have pretty huge amps there. In a P5 there's tons of space for amps under the seat!!! Heck, I think i can even put a 10 disc changer under there!

The latest Blau "T" series are great! If space is a concern, you can remove the plastic casing and it'll probably fit inside the glove box! Good clean power too.
