Moonroof Shade/one touch opening

Anyone know if a shade for the moonroof when it's open is available? Just thought it woudl be cool to be able to open it all the way and yet have some type of protection from the sun. Kinda whiney thought but just wondering. Also, has anyone come up with a one touch open and close mechanism for the moonroof? Saw a guy with a jetta VR6 just push a button once and it opened. I beleive that someone on the CEG made one for the tour but I don't know if it's applicable for the pro.

Well, you guys are gonna be jealous for sure....

My moonroof is not a factory piece - I wanted it, and then my ordered car came in without it, so the dealership had one put in for me.

It is by SolAire, and is just as nice as the factory roof - looks nearly identical, in fact. The switch is in the dead space near the fog light button, so nothing on the headliner either.

AND,........

One touch open. AND......one touch CLOSE, too (with a back-up sensor if it hits something). AND.........it closes when I shut the car off - about ten seconds after shutdown. No bullshit, I swear this is true. It works just like the factory one - tilt or slide, has the interior sun shade for when it's closed, etc, etc.

So maybe SolAire could provide you guys with a module or wiring specs to get this stuff done on the factory roof? Worth a shot.

Anyone know of a contact # or website for SolAire, I searched on Google and MSN and couldn't find a website. I would be most interested in doing this, anyone pretty good with electronics? I know an electrical engineer so I might enlist their help a bit.

http://www.solaire-sunroofs.com/

That looks like the site. They have contact info for different regions. Maybe send them an email and see what they can do for you.

hihoslva:

How long have you had your aftermarket moonroof? Does it leak? Is it covered by mazda warranty since you got if from the dealer?

I've had the roof since the day I got the car. Leak? Hell no. No way I would be living with it if it did. And according to the dealer, it is fully covered under the Mazda warranty since it was dealer installed. I believe it was included on the bill of sale, so it is recorded as being dealer installed (even though they sent it out to be done). It also has it's own warranty papers from SolAire, which I think are a lifetime warranty on the whole thing, including the motor. So I think I am pretty well covered.
