Just a few ?'s

Okay, im planning to do this audio installation myself. I've already made the tools that nuke posted about. I've also read the pages on installing a HU. my question is that the guy who wrote on that, he said that they didnt have a harness yet. but now, there is a harness and i have it, so i dont need to use a wire crimper or any splicing or anything like that right? the way i see it is that it's a simple plug harness into harness, and the wires from the harness into the HU and that's it? correct me if im wrong.

also, do i need to unplug like the battery or any power sources before i do this installation? if so, please explain here how to do it. thanks a lot.

a followup after looking at the stuff i have here in front of me. i figured out i gotta somehow tie the wires of the aftermarket harness, to the wires of the HU wires, like match the colors or suttin. but im still a bit lost like, are all wires used etc?

You still have to crimp the wires together (although I've never had a problem with the twist 'n tape method), from the HU wires to the adapter harness wires, pretty much it's all color matching. Consult your HU owners manual or sometimes its written on the deck which wire is what. And usually on the adapter wires there is small printing labelling the wires.

And I've never unhooked the battery for a deck install. For an amp it's different.

The only hing you wouldn't use is power antena or anything the harness for the car doesn't have.
