Question Installing Blue LED Windshield Washer Nozzles???? HELP!

Hey, I just recently purchased blue LED windshield washer nozzles and the directions that come with it are not sufficient at all. I have a 99 protege and I need help installing them and connecting the nozzles to the battery.

Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to do this? It seems as though I have to go through the trouble of removing the heat shield from the inside of the hood first??? and, how would I wire them to the battery without the wires getting in the way???

If anyone can help me, please post a reply or send me a message. Thanks!!

Well.......

I can`t walk you through every single step, that would take hours to type. But I can give you the run down. Don`t know how much you know about working on cars and will assume you know the basics.

Does you hood already have factory ones in it?

Or do you have to drill holes?

....... moving on.

Yes you have to partally take down the underhood insulation to get to the area. Once they are mounted on the hood we can go about hooking them up.

Do you want them to actually work for the washer fluid? Or just light up?

Lets forget about the washer fluid for now..... moving on

You need to run the wires down to the bottom of the hood in the direction to where the hood hinges are. If you can run them under the hoods second layer feeding the wires thru great. And you will have to use pull-thru ties to secure the wires to the hood.

Now you have your nossles and wires installed securely on the hood.

Next we see how much slack is needed for the wires with the hood fully open. (a friend would help right about now) Open the hood as far as it goes and temporarily run the wires near the hinge area and down the fenders in the engine compartment. Now secure the wires with pull-ties where it meets the cars body or as close at possible. This will allow the wires to "float" in that area where they go into the hood from the body when you open & close it. Slowly lower the hood making sure the wires don`t get pinched when you shut it.

Now you need to hook up the wires.

You want them on all the time when your lights are on?

You want them to work with the turn signals? Or both?

Moving on.......

I`ll guess you want them on steady when the lights are on. You need to find the parking lamp circuit. You have a service manual for that car? You have a test light? A volt meter?

Moving on....... :

Once you find the parking lamp circuit (follow in out of the parking lamp) you tap into it with the nossles power wire and do this for both sides. Be sure to test it first to make sure your tapping into the correct wire. You are better off doing this for EACH side. Left light for the left parking lamp, right light for the right parking lamp. Reason being is your not doubleing your 2 lights on one circuit and later down the road if you want to work them off the turn signals they are already in place on both sides.

Do this same procedure for the ground wires. Find a good solid ground to connect the ends to. (metal screw or bolts on the body that goes into metal)

Now go back and neatly tuck away the wires running from where you secured them to the car where the hood meets to where you taped into the circuit using pull-ties.

Turn the parking lamps on and they should light up.

If you want the washers to work then put the factory washer fluid hose and connect them to you new nossles.

That's about the best I can do from a keyboard and limited time.

There are sooooooooooooo many details that I cam`t possibly go into and things are different depending on the type of vehicle, your ability, and what you want to do with them. But that is it in it's "most basic" form.

It might be a good idea to get somebody you know..... who knows how to work on cars to help you with this installation.

Good luck :tu:

PS:

I HEARBY CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACTIONS PERFOMED ON YOUR VEHILCE BY READING THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

YOU ARE 100% ON YOUR OWN.

Question windshield washer nozzles

thanks so much for helping out. LoL the directions they give you make it sound so easy but I guess it's not.

Yes, i already have factory nozzles.
and, i want them to stay on with the parking lamps.
i also want them to light up and have the fluid come out too.

and where can i get these pull through ties and this is probably a stupid question, but, where do i pull these ties through? LoL are there holes under the hood where i can do that.

and nope, i have only beginner experience w/ working on cars.
and I'm confused about the part about the ground wires and finding a solid ground???
oh, and about the factory washer fluid hose, how do I take it off from the factory nozzles? are pliers fine to use?

I seem hopeless don't I? hehe

But, I do want to thank you. Thanks for looking out.

my advice

Though it is a simple installation, if you want it done right and neatly BRING IT IN.

They will only charge you labor, and these thing do not take more than 30 minutes to install.

Reply: windshield washer nozzles

hey protege5girl,

I figured it would be easiest to bring it in. I don't want to mess any thing up. Do you know of any generic place I can bring it to? I have no clue where to bring it in and mazda sure as hell won't do it <they hate that aftermarket crap>

and how much is labor?

thanks to everyone who responded

I initially went to Canadian Tire...WASTE OF TIME... they wanted like 115 each nozzle! I laughed and said buh-bye. I brought mine to Mazda, they initially quoted me 38$ (30min labour), but the mechanic offered to do it on his own time.......

ANY garage will do it for you. Is there one that you fill up at all the time? Or one where you brought your car in to oil changes? You can even try a difference Mazda dealer. Alot are starting to get into the aftermarket products. (mine sells Altezzas!)

Just don't pay more than 40$ to get it done! Its not worth it.

its not that hard to do

I did mine on my own but i wired it to a switch inside the car because cops are starting to crack down on them now. And you have blue so i wouldn't wire them to have them on with your parking lights because they will definitely pull you over for blue. They pulled me over and i have green. They cop said they look too blue, which if you have seen the green ones they are no where near blue. I think he was BLIND! Well that is my opinion to keep you from getting pulled over.

In Ontario, you can't have blue because it resembles a snow removal vehicle. (At least thats what a cop told me). In any case I have mine wired to my fogs. Gives me a little bit of flexibility to turn em on or off.

Paul, did you get a ticket?
