hey guys,

after i washed my car today i installed the PIAA extreme white HID emulator lights. i am very happy with them, they have a very nice pure white to them with a tiny hint of blueish. u can see a huge contrast when the u look at the fogs and then the PIAAs. im glad i finally installed them, i had them for almost half a year but just took them out of the box today.

I've had my Piaa's in for a month now and they do look sweet..makes the car look much better even in the daytime..

 

What is the wattage for these lights? I want to get some PIAA's but I don't want my wiring harness to melt because of using high wattage bulbs.

 

I've had the Falcon bulbs that I sell in my car for over a month & they look great. Best lights I've seen on any of the cars driving around. But, they are the wattage is your normal wattage for Xenon HID bulbs (which is higher wattage than your normal bulb) and I havent had any wiring harness problems nor has anyone that I know thats put bulbs in their cars. Piaa makes top quality bulbs and lighting systems...they are made in japan so if ya wanna call em rice so be it...

Question? I ordered a set of HID lights from a distributor here in Canada. They arrived yesterday. I popped the hood, took out my factory OEM bulb (low beam) and opened the HID box. When I took the HID bulb out and compared it to the factory, they looked nothing alike. The power connectors were smaller on the HID then the factory. The bulb itself was physically smaller as well. Any thoughts on this? I know that the bulb required for the Mazda is an H7 and the package that these bulbs came in states H7 on it. I don't want to install it if it's the wrong bulb. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

when i first saw it i though the same..on the oem original bulb you just took out there is a black plug type connector on the bulb..use a flat head screwdriver to pry it off the old bulb..then you can plug in your new h7's

 

Well, I'm not sure that's what I'm faced with. The low beams have a straight plug that just goes straight back from the bulb itself. 2 flat prongs. The high beams have a 90 degree plug that curves out from the bulb. The HID that I got is the same style as the low beam, just on a smaller scale.

 

I agree. PIAA makes quality bulbs that often outperform the stock bulbs.

I've avoided reading this thread because I wasn't interested in reading more on something I knew I couldn't afford. But I finally clicked on it and found out this was just a discussion about replacement bulbs. C'mon folks. . . HID systems cost $700+. I've seen some on eBay go for a lot less, but most retailers sell kits for $700-800.

To merely replace bulbs and say you have HIDs. . . that, my friend, is RICE.

 

I believe the correct term is "HID look" bulbs.

It is a fact that all these "HID look" bulbs produce less light (because of that blue coating a that filters out a certain spectrum of light). But yes, they do look cool.

PIAA's are expensive (around $100 for a pair of H7s), but from my experience, they DO perform quite well. I used PIAA H4s in my previous Civic and they are much better than cheaper "HID look" bulbs because it's not coated blue.

 

...after about 2 weeks of having the lights installed, i am very impressed with them. they look amazing at night. well worth the money.
