I have a question

I have a cd changer (sony) that is an FM modulator, I want to buy a new head unit to control it. I want to know if I can buy a HU (sony) to control it without using an FM modulator? Let me know.

Most likely, yes you can. Your best bet is to look at Sony head units only, as other makes of deck have a very slim chance of being able to control your changer.

Most changers connect to the same brand HU with just one cable. If yours is like this, make sure that the HU you buy has the same cable connection as the changer, and you should be good to go.

All you should need is a Sony head unit with changer controls. Most of them will say that it has changer control capability, and then you'd just need to hook the changer into the head unit.

Here's an example

Edit: Also thought of this...if you know the person well that you got the modulator from then you might can try to give it back and get a few bucks off the head unit. I had the same situation as you did and the guy did it for me...worth a shot
