First off, you gotta go to Wal-mart and get some little tools called Ford pins, or something like that. Ask for radio removal tools and they will know what you mean. They are these little pronged things that you stick in the holes on the sides of your HU and it pulls it out.

You can make the ford pin tools out of coathangers, but you gotta make em the right size and all so i think it's easier to just buy the real thing, they only cost like 2 dollars anyway.

If you are replacing your stock HU with an aftermarket one, which i'm assuming you are, you're also gonna need a wiring harness to connect your new HU to the wiring in the car, they sell those at Wal-mart, and they also have them at circuit city and best buy, but you've gotta ask for the specific harness that fits your exact car: make, model, and year.

If you're replacing an aftermarket HU with a different one, then you've already got the wiring harness in there, so you don't have to worry about it.

i suggest getting a soldering iron, some shrink wrap, wire strippers, and a coat hanger.

the sticky up top was very helpful, take the connectors, (head unit connector, female stock connector) solder/shrink wrap them together using the pinout, matching colours

pull out the old deck using the coat hanger tools

mount the new HU cage to the dash kit, snap the cage in the dash

plug the harness in your deck, stick the deck in

I love the single DIN design of my 2000....they went away from it in 2001+ models, except the MP3/MSP....it was so easy to swap out,lol...just a new wiring harness, slide that new deck into place and BAM! i was done
