Homegrown gauge pod!
Homegrown gauge pod!
I have a kewl idea for everyone looking to run extra gauges in thier pros in just 4 easy steps...
1-Get the third brake light unit from the rear package tray in a Gen3 sedan. (I would only suggest using your own for people with factory spoilers with LED or like aftermarket)
2-Pop out the red lens (and throw it away)
3-fabricate a flat piece of plastic or metal with (up to 2) gauges mounted in to replace the red lens.
4-Mount on dash and wire-up (would look like the centre mount clock in new mustangs)
Here are some extras...
1-The gauges can't be monsterous, but a 1 7/8" or 2" fuel or oil pressure gauge or like could be slightly sunk below so as to show just the numbers and needle.
2-It matches the dash plastic - grey/grey
3-There is a flat spot to mount above the centre vents
4-"Some drilling req'd"

That's a great idea! I was thinking of adding gauges to my pro some way that isn't an a-pillar pod, or big lame *** tachs. Do you have a picture of what the unit looks like, or somewhere to buy one other than a junkyard? Thanks, again it's a great idea!

besides, if I ever get boost, it would be neat to have the gauges in the middle of the car, kinda like an old muscle car
I assume you could probably buy one from the dealer also, it can't be that expensive, it's only plastic.
I also don't have any pics, cause I haven't done it myself. I had tint put on my car and I removed the third light for the guy so he wouldnt cut around the housing thinking it was working. As I drove home I grabbed it from the passenger floor and tossed it on the dash to see what it would look like. Just a quick thought while cruising.
