what sucks is that I paid for priority mail!
it should have been here ON FRIDAY. it could have been delivered on saturday, but NO. today is almost OVER and I have not received anything. aarrgghhh....

I am going to Home Depot to investigate their wires. I'll shop for power wires - 4 gauge. What's with the 1/0 gauge stuff? I'm not familiar with this measuring system. How much thicker is 1/0 compared to 4 gauge?

talking about computers...
I have a DIY system, but I'm sure it beats any brand name system out there! I have a Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz with 512MB of Dual Channel DDR (it's like 2x DDR or QDR ). I don't have the newest and greatest graphics card, but I'm not a gamer, so I don't need to spend $500 on that. And my monitor isn't an LCD, but is totally flat - 17" SONY Trinitron monitor. LCDs are actually far behind in terms of quality compared to a CRT monitor. They have a lower refresh rate... the image is slightly blurred, etc.. If you watch a fast moving object on an LCD monitor you will see a trailing image behind it - sort of like a ghost. There are LCDs which offer similar performance to the CRT monitors, but they are insanely expensive - upwards of $2000 for a 17" monitor!

Speakers....
You haven't heard anything till you've heard Klipsch! MisterT, you definitely need to look at these. They are THX certified. I don't know if you're familiar with the THX standard, but this stuff is top notch! Besides, Klipsch is a very high-end, audiophile type of company (home audio). You know what to expect from their PC products. The ProMedia 2.1 (what I have) was unrivaled for a very long time. Now they have 5.1, 6.1, etc.. systems that will blow you AWAY! Very high quality products...

1 gauge is very thick wire. I think it is overkill unless you are running some SERIOUS power. Otherwise 4 gauge is ideal. Home Depot wouldn't sell the wire you need I don't think. I was looking for cheap *** remote wire and went to Lowes and Home Depot and they didn't have that. I ended up getting them at radio shack.

R2, I have had my EDesigns for almost a month now. They are in a sealed box and are really {{{{LOUD}}}}} !! They vibrate the roof. The bad thing is that the rear deck is vibrating so badly, that I have to get the vibration under control. The only problems I am having is with the lights dimming, but hopefully a ground kit will take care of that. I ordered it Saturday, so it should be in around Wednesday or Thursday. I just hope it doesn't rain so I can get it done this weekend. I need to get a 2nd job so I can get some more **** for my car since things have been so tight The only way I was able to get the EDesigns was because I moved and used the deposit that I put down on the other place. Pretty pathetic eh? It should have gone in my savings to build it up more, but I have been bitten by the audio bug.

I love Klipsch speakers. They were a hit in the 70's and 80's. I used to be big in to the home stereo thing before in the car seen and would walk to a place ( I had no wheels at the time) to listen to Klipsch speakers. The same place where I bought my Audire amp which is the best sounding home amp I have heard. So I believe you on their computer spkrs being good. I too have a flat screen (not a flat panel) that is a Diamondtron made by Mitsubishi I am sure. It was there best monitor that wasn't a flat panel. It came with a decent sound card and graphics card too. I am in to gaming, but haven't had the time, but it has a crisp picture and great sound and graphics, so who needs more?

The Bostons are pretty loud. When I was living in a duplex, I had them in a far room playing music while surfing the net, and my neighbor called and asked me to turn the stereo down. She had to come over to believe that it wasn't the computer speakers. (Believe me, she would KNOW if it was the home stereo)!

He told me a friend of his was getting one. Are you the guy? If so, what kind of box are you looking at? I can't imagine one in a 6th order bandpass. Mine are in a sealed, but I am thinking of getting him to build me a ported. I just don't know if I am ready for that amount of bass yet! They are loud too, believe me! Supply them with ample amount of power and you won't be disappointed. I better shut up because some one else is waiting for theirs and the suspense is probably killing him I will listen to them for you okay Intruder! LOL I can hear him say "ARGH The HUMANITY!"

yea i prob am the one. I wanted him to build me the best box for it to sound the loudest in. I think i can handle the bass, hopefully my trunk can too. But yea, i've been talking to him on private messaging about building me a box and all. So if all goes well when i get more money i will have a kick *** system.

If you go with a single, you won't need as much power to make it loud too. Have you heard his Brahma? That thing is pretty amazing. I saw the post on how it was shipped. That **** was too funny. It reminded me on how the Tazmanian Devil was shipped (in a big wooden crate). Brahma has a 15 inch sub out too! I think it's around $1K. Can you imagine that thing in even a sealed or ported box?! ***** insane. The loudest I have heard was a guy with an extended pickup and 4 SoundStream 15s in a band bass box. He had huge ports going behind the seat from the bed of the truck and about 2000 watts RMS (two class a 10.0's for the subs alone). It was ridiculously loud, almost obnoxious. I couldn't stand to be in there longer than a minute because of all the SPL in that limited amount of space. I felt like my eyes were going to blow out of my sockets. You would have to hold your ears and nose to keep it from itching from the vibrations. The amazing thing was that he placed 2nd in an SPL contest. The guy who beat him out, had a Chevy Astrovan with 56 8's. No typo there, 56 of them! It was featured in Auto Sound & Security Magazine.

That's insane! 56 speakers? OMG!
No worries there MisterT. I'll get them sooner or later. I'm used to waiting for stuff. I don't like it but there is nothing one can do about it (besides bugging the folks at the post office every day, passing through the office of the app. complex and asking if there's a package for me, calling home to see if someone's delivered something for me while I was away, etc. ). See...

I went to a couple of car-audio stores here. Those guys are CRAZY! They want to make a HUGE PROFIT out of EVERYTHING!!!

$3 per foot of 10 gauge wire!!! and they say it's the cheapest around here (they cut me a "deal" - yeah right). Damn, I'm not going back to that place - EVER! Besides, they've probably never even heard of eDesigns... losers. I ended up buying used RCA cables cuz they were cheap and seemed in perfect condition (a little dirtier than brand new, but who cares?). Audiobahn cables, about 15 feet long (about 5 meters). I got them for $15. The ones from Knuconceptz look exactly like the ones I got, but cost twice as much!

I just ordered some cables from Knuconceptz.

9 feet - Karma 10AWG Speaker Kable (2x sub to terminal & terminal to amp)
18 feet - Kolossus Kable 4AWG Red/Silver Power Wire (battery to amp)
5 feet - Kolossus Kable 4AWG Black/Silver Power Wire (chassis to amp)
1 - In-Line Waterproof AGU Fuse Holder

All that + Premium Shipping = Total: $56.12

I hope the cables don't turn out shorter than I need.
I also asked them if they could include 4 80AMP AGU fuses in my order, because they have them in an amp kit, but I don't see them being sold separately.

I did not order the battery terminal from them because someone said that there's a problem with it.... Gonna look some place else.

I ordered this from partsexpress.com:

Well, that's all for today. I'm very tired and I look forward to finally getting my eD stuff tomorrow (oh please God!). I also look forward to putting an end to all this money spending. Ground kit, and what not... When will I stop thinking about ways of improving my simple car.

Here's a picture of the moon as seen from Fremont, CA through the lens of a Canon Powershot G1...

You may not need a ground kit. I need one because of my amps are Class A amps which are the most inefficient amps on the market. The flip side is that they are the best sounding amps on the market. In the past I had Alpine running the highs and those amps are great too! Alpine is a class A/B unless you get the Mono Class "D" one.
But back to the ground kit, I wouldn't mess with it unless your lights are dimming a bit and you plan on going with more power like Blue.

If you stay in a stock 1 class, you could do some serious damage. I thought that your 10 was around $349 a piece and for some reason was thinking their 15 was $1K. I still haven't decided on going solo or doing with 2 12's, I mean I want SQ, but your sub in that bandpass sounds awsome. I would get an extra 100 watts for the sub because it would be bridged at 400 watts <with 2 ohm> versus 600 <which is in 1ohm>. Decisions, decisions, decisions. You could do it for the parts and labor or what? Also, what do you suggest for the rear deck vibrating? You better keep an eye on your paint too! You showed me were it already was cracking from the vibrations of the sub. If I go with a 6th order, my electrical system would thank me for it. I don't need it carpeted. Just spray painted perhaps. I guess a 6th order with a 12 would be the size of my present box if not a little bigger eh?
