Help me decide on a sub& combo!

I just finished cutting my amp rack. I will have brunch now and I'll try to install it.
Tomorrow I am getting the carpet I ordered from crutchfield. I shall learn how to "carpet"! I'll use the amp rack as a test subject. I got the 3M super glue spray, so I am set for that test.

WOW, I had to come back 5 times -- to shape the rack so it fits right.
Now I'm going to the Home Depot to get some bolts, nuts and washers. I decided to bolt the rack, instead of using screws... Looks good so far. I will post pics later.

Hey man, I'm glad you like, but the last one isn't an amp temp. gauge. It's going to read the current flowing through the 4 gauge wire going to the amp. Basically, how much current the amp draws. The interesting thing is that the indicator will jump up with the bass. cuz the more bass is poundinng through the sub, the more current is being drawn from the battery => the meter will be jumping (and the voltmeter will be showing a HUUUUGE-*** drop ).
I'm glad you like my HU. It's not "new" cuz I got it like 3 months ago... I want to finish the sub & amp install so I can change the HU and upgrade its power, etc. Here's a "nicer" pic.
Good luck with yours! At least I know mine will work when it's done, but yours.... You keep re-doing it to see no result... Good luck!

I've decided already. I'll get either the 9813 or the 9815.

oh yeah, I'm done with the amp rack!
I'm so happy! All I have to do is cover it with carpet, but the carpet ain't here yet, so I'll do it tomorrow...
I took a lot of pics, but I left the camera in the car.
I came back for the amp's screws. I'm going to mount it on the rack in a few minutes. Huge progress today!
See ya!

My set up sucks!! Tonight I unplugged a sub so that I could run a single sub in a 2ohm (versus the 1 ohm 2 sub set up) and the freakin' lights still dimmed!! Are Mazda's electrical systems that crappy?! The pathetic thing is that the dim was as bad or almost as bad with even one woofer playing at 200 watts less. I could get a classD amp, but things are so tight now, I couldn't afford one just yet. I guess I will hope for the best. Please battery, don't die. I tried every thing I could for you you factory ****!

But guess what?!?! I don't need the distribution block anymore! I fucken unplugged the wire from the wire holder and sort of re-routed it around the battery. Now, instead of going under the battery and up... it is going up the other side (no "under" at all). I have just enough lenght to be able to secure it to the new terminal. I didn't do it yet because it got dark and I got lazy... It took me half an hour to remove the "battery holder" and put it back in place, then put the battery back, etc... I will put the new terminal in tomorrow...
Yippee!!!
I sent an email to sounddomain to cancel my order.
I finished installing the rack, I screwed the amp to it (I even managed to open the amp! ). I'll post pics later... Gotta eat now!

Here come the pics. Not very exciting, but pics none the less.
Here you can see the washers (fenders) I used. I did not drill holes cuz there were some that were already there. I decided to use them, so I bought those "fenders".
Green arrows point to existing holes, red arrows point to holes that I had to drill. You can also see that I have not finished my sound-deadening project.
Plastics back on... Approximate wire location.
The insides of the amp. I had to open it because the lid was mis-aligned and the amp was sitting on three legs. I had to re-align it.
Amp is in place...
You can see how much space the amp has to "breathe". Later I may install a fan or two, to cool it down and keep it safe.
Here you kind of see how I shaped the rack. As I mentioned before, I had to come home at least 4 times to cut pieces off... It finally fit...
Something's crooked? Nah... The box is sitting on that piece of sh@# plastic cover for the spare tire and is bending it out of shape. I have to work something out.
Last pic for the day.
Next time you see this, it will hopefully be carpeted and final. *sigh*
Today was a very productive day. I still have lots of work to do though... Gonna get some rest now.

Mr. T, Blue, Intruder.... is this amp rack an approved means of getting sound out of a sub.., doesn't all that wood negate some of the soundwaves? i mean, Intruder, that will be ONE slamming install once you're finished, GREAT WORK. just contemplating how much of negative effect a big piece of wood like that would have .

However, I did not want a very loud bass, so even with this huge board blocking the sound waves, I think it'll sound just fine for me.
peace bro!

I wouldn't worry about blocking sound waves and crap. It looks clean! Are you going to carpet that bad boy? Also, drill some holes for the wires to go behind the box to hide them (like I should have done with the stiffening cap. I am so fed up with the problems on my Protege, I am ready to trade in for something different (like a base model Dodge Neon). Arrrgghhh!!! Only kidding, but there is a Toyo PreRunner that is sweet! Dark Green '99 before the new design. Hmmmm!!!

As for the cables, I will figure it out. I will make it look as clean as possible.
The point is, I CAN CONNECT THE STOCK POWER CABLES TO THE NEW TERMINAL!!!
