Exclamation !Help! - Cannot find Euro Tails for 97 LX

Hello. Recently I ordered some 98 Euro Tails, which is what my car is supposed to be, and they did not fit. I asked around and I was told my Protege is probally a 97 that was made in 98, or a 98 with 97 tails heh. As anyone seen any euro taillights that fit a 97? I've had no luck finding these....

There are none for the 2nd gen (95-98) Protege.

You bought tail lights for 99-03 Proteges.

APC (and all the other stupid companies who make these tail lights) say 98-02 on the package but obviously they didn't do their research.. and vendors are stupid enough for not looking further into this prior to selling them..

Good luck.

You can only get the clear corner tail lights from www.corksport.com And they will cost a pretty $249!

The reason why APC advertises them as 98, is because 3rd gen came in the US a year later then the rest of the world. So for people outside of US it is a 98 (third gen), and in the US it was still a 2nd gen.

Any other parts?

Well if there are no euros for the 2nd Gen Protege. What about Z3 fenders or boxters? I'm looking for other cosmetic parts but no luck....BTW, anyone know how much a custom tail light conversion would cost? $400, $500?

I am sorry to inform you, but if you were to get most of the parts for your car, you would have to have them custom made. It is especially hard for the exterior parts, as it might cost more. Just save some money, and get an intake with a good exhaust. Tha will run you no more then $500, and then you can worry about how your car looks.

Damn, I didn't realize the J-spec outer tails ran that much money, that sucks.. they look great though I've seen them in person on a couple cars including Bruce Scott's 2nd gen..

Tail light conversions would probably run you at least $700 for the fiberglass work + paint.. and that would be at a place where you have a hookup, maybe... more hassle than it's worth.
