Help!

The car wont go any faster, so why not put a sound system in it? I just need some suggestions/help with the setup, its 92dx, and the following has been purchased

-alpine cda 7892
-2 pairs - kicker resolution rs56c
-kicker kx800.4, 100x4@4ohms
-2 each - kicker comp vr 12", dvc 2ohms
-kicker kx800.2, 400x2@2ohms

they may not be the best out there, but this is just a what-i-can-afford system, not a competition blow your mommas doors off setup or anything, i just wanted something that sounded better

what i need to know is if the 60 (maybe 65?) amp alternator in the car will still be efficient with the wattage and current the amps are drawing , and if not, would u recommend installing a higher rated amp or a capacitor (dont know if it works good??) thanks for all the help , any suggestions would b great

I see that those subs have a recommended RMS power of 400 watts. However, your subs are dual voice coil with each coil having an impedance of 2 ohms. If you want to run that amplifier off of stereo power(2x400) you will need each sub to have a total impedance of 2 ohms to ideally power it. However, those subs will wire to 1 ohm or 4 ohms of impedance each, never 2 ohms each. So you'll have to bridge your amp to one channel at 2 ohms, then wire both your subs connecting the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.). So you'll have to wire this amp to mono which isn't a problem because it can go 800x1 at 2 ohms.

However, it is an A/B class amp so not as efficient as a D class amplifier. If you are concerned about efficiency of power you could get a D class mono block amplifier that can run around 800x1 at 2 ohms. Unfortunately your subs will not wire to a total load of 1 ohm which would be ideal for a good D class amp. If it's not too late, you could get subs with dual voice coils of 4 ohms each, then it will completely wire to a total load of 1 ohm and be perfect for a 1 ohm D class amp.
Since you are going to run that 800.4 which is a huge amp as well, you may want to be smart with the efficiency of your amps. The 800.2 and 800.4 both being A/B class may be draining on you alternator. Definately get at least a one farad capacitor.

This is similar to the situation I dealt with. I am going to run a 100x4 at 4 ohm A/B amp for my mids and highs. Then for my subs I was gonna do a 200x2 at 4 ohms A/B class amp. In the end, I decided to buy different subs so I could wire three of them to a total impedance of 1 ohm and then bought a D class amp. Some say it doesn't matter but I'm happy with the decision.

Also, those amps of yours are pretty big. Make sure you know where you are going to put them and make sure there is room. My D class I have now is 12 inches long and my A/B I'm getting is 17 inches long. Fitting those into my amp rack nicely is gonna be tricky.

Sorry for the long message. Most of it was probably just senseless babbling.
