Lightbulb Gold plating the emblems???

Anyone ever think about gold plating the emblems on their protege? I think it would look really sweet....... especially on my black mica! I wonder how much it would cost to do this? I think there is a place here in town that does stuff like that. I'll have to check on it.

you can't do it....and here is why....the emblems on our cars are NOT metal....they are plastic....so you can't electroplate them. you may be able to find some ARTIFICIAL gold colored coating...but you can't TRUELY gold plate them.

this place WOULD give you the look you are after....however....I would look into it....don't be paying the price for REAL GOLD...as what I believe you are actually getting is plastic.....just like the CHORME pieces in a model kit you buy at the store....only they are gold tinted.....

did you read the tech page though? they say they apply a metal bond to the plastic and then coat that with 24kt GOLD. they did'nt say it was fake. i obviously don't want to get ripped off but they say this is gold. i'll try and research more. this is the only place on the web i could find that plates plastic.

Just paint them gold colour, it will look the same won't it?

And it will look good on a black car.

NO it won't...it will NOT have the reflective quality if you just paint them....if you are going to do this..you want the finish to be a mirror finish.
