personally I would go with a b16 j-spec tranny, shorter gears, and you would be ALOT quicker than if you had a gsr tranny.

I had a friend who had a gsr in a civic hatch with a b16 tranny, and he spanked a tiburon with a supercharger. We all just told him that a tiburon is still just a hyundai. He was pissed. He went home crying. I think I have the video from that nite, I have to go look for it though.

Anyways my point was is shorter gears, closer ratio, and awesome power capability. Dont get me wrong a GSR tranny is good, but I would go with the b16 personally.

Sorry to hijac the thread.

For the interior I would go with a shiny black, maybe leather for rarity in an X, that or a dark grey. I dunno, IM not that good at color matching.

I think you should go really clean-looking on the interior of your car. The rest of it is super-clean, so why not keep it on the inside? I'm not a big fan of painted interiors, but that's just me.

Thats what I am saying.

Since he wants to look good for a show, I would try to see if you could have leather uposltered in there. Not only luxurgy, but also rarity. I have NEVER seen a CRX with full leather interior. That would for sure win some show prizes.

Man leather would be nice, I sure would like to rap up my del sol seats in leather. Clean is exactly what I want to do. I do not want to paint anything. But I want something that will match with my cage. I was thinking also about dropping my tank out and installing a fuel cell for some more weight savings. Theres so many options but leather would be cool because I have also never seen one all done luxury looking with leather.

That would be a good idea. If you were to get the seats wrapped, get the stitching the same color as your rollbar, I think that would look pretty nice. Subtle, yet noticeable.

# of hatches I have seen done up with leather = 0

GOing back some.......
I got a friend with a b18c hes trying to get rid of,
I know you were talking of moving up from the b16.
I know he will let it go cheap.
Lemme know

Leather interior hatch would be a rare item that would for sure win in show.... I know it would have my vote. Like Daniel said match the stitching or color match it. I know someplace online has got to sell leather in bulk, then you could have your seats reupolstered.

How much for the B18? And has it been raced a lot. I want something very reliable until I put a stroker kit into it.

my opinion is to get the 94+ teg ls bottom end and mat it with a b16a head. great combo. almost same hp and torq. b16 head redlines higher then gsr.

and we all want to see pics when you get it put on and painted cause i was thinking of that kit

Maybe stock. A GSR is a good at high revs. I had a friend with a GSR that had a 9k redline, and he only took it up to 85k when he wanted to scream by the competition.

What I would do is use the ls block.
Go VTec, and when you do, immediately swap the ls pistons for high comp pistons. People who do ls vetc do it wrong by not swapping the pistons. Ls has good low end torque, and mated with a high reving gsr head, you got real power.

Mate all that to his short b16 tranny, and he would be able to pull damn hard through the gears.

Only thing that would be cooler to do would be a b20 build up, just because of the more torque. Torque in a car that could be dieted down to under 1900 lbs.......
