front bumper

my mazda has a ... 'lame' front bumper. its the aussie version of the mazda 00 model.

Not cool.

So... does the front bumper from an 01/02/03 protege fit?

Unfortunately .. not very easily. You'll need more parts too like new headlights, and possibly a grill. There's a guy here who just did it recently, lemme see if I can find the thread.

You'll need the wheelwell splash guards from a Protege5/MSP/MP3 as well, I'm assuming your car has the "regular" sedan ones right now.

Your current headlights will work fine, but damn why the hell did the body shop not just get Protege5 headlights.. I don't think they are any more expensive, and to do the sedan headlights they had to rewire stuff.

No worries at all about hood, fenders, etc, but you'll need the Protege5/MSP/MP3 bumper support or things will fit all funny.

To change to an 01 and up you need the fenders ,hood ,lights ,grill ,or if you are real good with body work and plastic you can make the 01 fit by trial and error fitment

It's actually a lot simpler than that. That's all MSP bumper right there, just with a bit trimmed off on the sides near the headlights.

You just have to kinda flatten out that part of the bumper.. pic for reference:

I love the way the MSP/MP3 bumper looks on the 99-00 sedan, but with the availability of the Sport20 bumper I think I'd definitely save the headache and just go that route. It looks really good either way, it's not as cute/happy looking as the 01+
