Fog Light Mod
I my previous car (99 Sentra SE) I was able to wire the factory foglights to work indenpendtly for the headlights. Basicly I took the lead off the fog light relay that got power when the low beams were on and tapped it into the power lead for the parking lights. As long as the parking lights were on i could turn the fog lights on and off with the stock switch and they didn't go off when you put on your high beams. Very simple mod, anyone know what wire I would take from the fog light relay or has someone done this before. I haven't really looked myself for the right one hoping someone else has found it if not I guess I will.

Pull off the side panel of the drivers dash (between the dash and the door), it's just clips and pulls directly off. You'll access the wiring behind the fog light switch here. Look up under the dash, above where your left foot sits. There's four electronic boxes, the smallest (Black) one is the fogs relay. Feel it click as you turn the fogs on and off from the switch. Find the red wire going into the relay, and cut it. Connect a piece of wire to the red wire going into the relay, and run it up to the fog switch. Insulate the other end (no short circuits here). At the fog switch, tap that new wire into the light green/black wire, and you're done. Now the fogs come on with parking lights and headlights. They'll still shut off with high beams, though. I'm still working on that solution.

Had this on my other car for the longest time and never experienced that. I personally just want to do it for the looks and control. Why do it at all then if that is the case. Beside aren't the fogs pointed more down than up right so how would that cause any kind back glare?

The fog lights on the P5 are useless as driving lights, unless you need that 12" in front of your car REALLY bright. I run mine pretty much all the time at night, so that other drivers can see me better, they don't aid me in the slightest.

It's not the fogs causing the glare - it's the Hibeams..
In a foggy situation the most ideal lighting you can have is the fog lights only. Unfortunatly by default they're only on when the headlights are on, which I think defeats the purpose since the headlights will cause back glare. Having them tapped into the DRLs will be the most ideal (short of being able to turn off the DRLs) as they are the least bright out of the three settings...
That's of course if you're using the fogs like they're supposed to be in a foggy situation. Mostly people just use them for looks (me included). They certainly don't provide any extra illumination under normal conditions...

Actually when there is fog, you still want your parking lights on when using only the fog lights and not the regular headlights. That way people from the front, back, and side can still see you through the gravy.

Reason....I figure
I like the look of the fogs being on even if not foggy....therefore the reason I see his point is this....People like the looks of the fogs on all the time, and also like the extra light in the road between the light beams and the car...it really does make a difference when driving at night...

I just like the way they look at nite i think that is why mazda put them there in the first place not much benefit from them at all. They did it because it is sporty and all the sports cars and upper class cars have them. I just like them to be on when I want them all the time. I can't even tell they are on unless I cycle the power on them and like you said pay attention to the 12 inches right in front of the bumper. So anyway it is just what i am use to and I what I like and that is what comprises about 98 percent of the stuff we do or have on our cars right.

1: i cut the red wire in the relay box
2: took the red wire (from the relay box) and connect my wire with this red wire
3: i connected (splice) the other end of my wire at the green and black wire from the fog switch.
result: same as no modification.
