few quick questions before i go out and buy some stuff for my new protege

i just ordered a vivid yellow protege 5, now i have a whole system from my old car, and i know how to install systems and everything. i was just asking 2 questions to make things easier for me when my car comes in. im going to be replacing the stereo most likely the first weekend i have the car, with the one i have. now i need to know where i can get a dash fill kit with a tray or whatever to fill in under where i put my face. and iwas wondering if they make the wiring harness that direcetly plug into the factory ones from ur face, i have an alpine head unit, and i will splice the wires together if i have to, so if they dont make the adapter, does anyone have the pinout of the wires so that the splicing will be easy. and is there anything else i should know about before i get to work that might be hidden

Dark, the harness you want is VERY available....

there are at least three or four makers that have them...

Metra, & Scosche just to name two......check with any local Car Audio install shop. they certainly use these too as it certainly makes an install easier.....just make sure they look for the 2001-2002 Protege...as SOME list a "99" and UP....which only goes to 2000 and will NOT work on your cars wiring harness.

as far as the pin out.....here is a link to one that is correct.

factory harness pin out

keep in mind when looking at this pin out and your harness...that what HE calls the face of the pin out and what I call the face are two differnt things.....IF you are looking at the side of the connector that the wires go INTO...that is how they are according to the image on that link.

another thing that will be VERY helpful when hooking up the speaker wires....Pins 1 thru 8 across the connector are all your speaker wires.....the ODD number wires are the NEGITIVE post on your speakers...and the EVEN numbers are the POSITIVE's.
