fende flares

Id like to know two things: 1) Does anyone know of a site that sells wide body fender flares? 2) Would they fit on our Pro's, even though they already have existing fender flares?

Wings West has some fender flares, though I don't know if you'd consider them "widebody". They're really just for looks, and I don't think it'll allow you wider tires or anything like that:

only way to allow for bigger wheels/tires is to cut the flares off and weld new wider ones on... or mold...

edit: or I guess you could get that bender tool and try to push your flares out wider...

Im not necessarily looking into getting wider tires. It would more than likely be for looks. Im in the process of getting 18x7.5 wheels and I wanted to make sure I have enough room and no rubbing.

I think those flares are just for that particular body kit and year Protege. In the pic is a 2001 Protege with the 9 piece MPS kit and Carbon fiber Evo hood. I was looking into getting that too and the people from WW told me that it could fit on my year Pro, but I would have to modify the headlights and front bumper in order to make it fit. I bought the WW MPS kit for my Pro, but the flares weren't for sale. I wonder if they could fit on my Pro too, since I did buy a MPS kit. Oh well, I'll check it out later.

How bad do they rub? I just got the Eibach Pro-kit not too long ago and if your tires rub at stock height, then mines going to like rub like crazy.

IMO, those Wings West flares are terribly ugly. DGM makes some flares, which include the side skirts too, in carbon fiber and fiberglass for the Proteges.

Ugh - just my $.02, but those DGM "flares" look like ***.

It's looking like a true widebody kit might have to be a total custom job.

I wouldn't mind seeing a P5 or sedan with fenders that bulge like the WRX's do, and fatty tires to fill them up.

And you say the WW flares are ugly!

Both are!

I never said I liked the look of the DGM flares. When I saw them a while ago I was like "cool" but a few months ago they were just kinda like "ehhhh...." All I said is that they're another company that makes flares. I do think the Wings West flares look much worse though.

they're actually not all that bad. They look pretty nice on the MP3 Protege on the WW website. And actually, those are the only ones that I know of fit specifically for the Protege. On Autosportz.com, they have universial fender flares, but I think they are made for cars without existing flares on the vehicle. Secondly, on dgmotorsports.com, they have the widbody flare kit. It comes with the side skirts though, which I don't need. I asked the guy at DGmotorsports if the flares could be bought separately, but he said that it comes as a kit and cannot be sold separately. So, that ruined that idea.
