eq and 5.1?
sup fellas,
Even though i got jacked $1000 online for my clarion vrx925vd, I am saving up for another one.
Well here is the question for you guys.
The clarion vrx925vd has 5.1dts surround sound capabilites on it, It is a single din however and i want to cover up the double din slot so i was thinking about putting a eq underneath. I was wondering if the eq would affect the 5.1? Also what is the order of the signal? ie, like would it go from my deck to the eq to the dts processor or the deck then processor then eq?
last question is, is a clairion HU compatible with another companies eq?
Thanks for your help, i really appreciate it .

for plain car audio, 5.1 will give you headaches just trying to get your imaging right. sounds good on paper, but unless you are running multimedia (which you may, i don't know) surround sound really isn't recommended. as music is recorded in 2ch, 5.1 would be useless. unless you have multimedia. did i mention that already? pardon me, my drugs are still in my system...
as far as i know, the eq shouldn't interfere with your 5.1 as you'd run that separately. but i'm not a numbers or specs kinda guy, just layman's terms only.
i may be wrong ( i hope not) so if anyone has the correct answers, i'd appreciate constructive correction. but as far as i know, you should be just fine.

dude, you're on the right track. if i suggested anything, i'd probably screw you up! that gately box should make the sub sing, altho if you don't have the w6 yet, i'd suggest (at the risk of messing everything up!) maybe one of these:
fusion jonah lomu (my fave)
jl audio w7
treo ssx
adire brahma
beyond audio inhuman
elemental designs k series driver (real cheap!)
i haven't heard the adire, ba, or edesign, but across the audio boards, these companies are very well respected and highly recommended. i suggested all these subs cause they have awesome baskets/magnets which should be impressive in a gately box. ...that and it seems money is not an issue for ya!

Yah the reason i wanted to go with the w6v2 is because one: the w7's are a lot more expensive and they run at 3 ohms my amp if i am not mistaken is a 2 or 4 ohm i would have to get the custom amp designed for the w7.
I wish money wasnt' a problem. . I have been saving and buying these items part by part. heh almost there.
I respect your opinions one hawaii, but i feel i have a obligation to stay with jl audio heh. (even though they are pretty pricey now and they are starting to go more mainstream)
Do you or anyone have any good suggestions for a nice eq that would go well with the vrx925vd? or any good eq's that aren't too expensive but good?

you have incredible patience! damn, i could not buy my stuff piece by piece...wait, i kinda did with my fusion stuff. but it killed me! yeah, i was only suggesting those cause of the basket and magnets, but the new w6's look like the w7's and should still be impressive for that gately!
