double din cd recievers!!
Does anyone know of a company that makes double din cd recievers that dont have a tape player. I want it to fit snug where the stock one is. And I dont wanna pay for the tape player option. ALso i want it to be black to match the interior. ANy help would be sweet!

i too am interested in something like this.
This one seems really nice, but a tad on the expensive side. But it doesn't have any ***** it looks like. I wonder if it comes with a red display instead of blue? It also doesn't show up as one that could go into a P5. I wonder why.

that kenwood is the only one that I know of thats double din and supports mp3... however I think its a tad ugly and tacky.... I would just go for the single din and get a kit to fit it in the dash properly...

I can get the Kenwood DPX series Double DIN units - many are NOT for sale in the US, and very, very sweet stuff.
Color shifting face, CD/MP3 CD/ and MiniDisc capable. Very nice - costs in the $700-$800 range though. But if you are ino MD's and MP3's, it's a helluva deck.
Also, check out this Kenwood site. I'm pretty sure I can get any of those decks - many are also not for sale in the US.
Expect them to be a bit pricey, but I had the DPX-8020MD (from the picture) installed (well, wired up anyway) in my Pro for a few days, and I can tell you it kicks ***. The power section is nice enough not to need external amps, and the SQ is really great. I didn't have a high powered sub setup at that time, but the first time I listened to the DPX 8020, I forgot to hook up the sub, and DIDN'T NOTICE for like 5 minutes. The output really was that strong - MUCH more powerful than any deck-powered system I ever listened to. I think the rest of the world does not like using outboard amps, so the products for other countries have higher quality internal amps. At least that's my guess.
Anyone interested in any of these, just let me know and I can get some better price info for you.

Most double DIN units take advangtage of that mass of space by putting both a CD and a cassett into it. Nothing really wrong with that- with the size of mobile electronics, there is still some air in there!
I have not seen much in the way of black face hardware in Double DIN lately.
The Kenwood overseas double DIN stuff is very nice- I know the Japanese requires a converter to play FM stateside, how about the Aussie, anyone know? HiHoslva, how much on the Kenwood units? I think it might be a fun toy for a while, and unique...
I like the Pioneer double DIN product also, yes it has the cassette, but it also has many of the eq and interior mike features of the higher end pioneer decks. It also appeals to me and is available now on this side of the pond
Markspark, Awia makes a less expensive double DIN, but it also has a cassette. Double DIN units are not cheap to begin with becuse they are not manufactured at the same levels and single size units, hence no economies of scale.
You could also do like a few of us on the board, and get another device to install in the extra slot in the dash. I chose a CD changer, but there are some nice Equalizers that you could place under a deck also.
The big hole gives you lots of options many cars lack....
