Difficulty of installing cassette player?

Just bought a 2007 Mazda5 Sport. The wife is a big books-on-tape fan and she would like to have the cassette player.

Has anyone attempted this? Has anyone seen procedures for the install? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

thats a tuff one you are going to have big trouble finding one that will fit....you neet to look around for a single din aftermarket tape player......buy a dash kit and harness....hook up is strait forward with that setup......next option is to but just any tape player with a factory harness still in tact.....you will have to locate identify and splice all wires into your factory harness and more than likely stick it in your glove box.........you best bet will be to go to a stereo store near you(not bestbuy or circut city) they can more than likely order it for you and give you the options for installiation

Mazda makes and sells and will install one for the 5. Below is a link where I can buy the thing. I was hoping someone had procedures on how to remove dash etc. and install. Trying to save a little money by doing install myself. Jeff

if this is your dash.... remove the carbon look pieces on the side they are held in by clips on the bottom top and middle pretty easy to remove......than remove the silver piece from around the radio.....screws may be under the carbon pieces you removed......once you remove those pieces the radio should only be held in by a couple of screws remove those than your done unassembling

That's a 3rd gen Protege dash, but the concept should be similar. To remove the radio on the 3rd gen you don't actually have to remove any of the dash trim though.

here's the 5 dashboard:
