dangerous to run higher wattage headlite bulbs?

this is for a first gen protege

yeh.. dangerous or not? the hiper whites i have are 85w high 80w low.. my stock bulbs are 65high 45low in size 9004

im gettin tired of hiper whites. it looks nice but i cant see the road if my life counted on it, esp in the rain cuz of the color of the bulbs. i wanted some brighter halogens and i've found the highest in 9004's to be 100high 80low.

also how bout stickin in a 9007 bulb? hehehe

thanks in advance for the info

jackin up the wattage of the bulbs means MORE current through the wiring to power them...more current means HEAT....which could end up melting something.

of course if you are LUCKY the fuse will pop before you damage any wiring.....and if you are NOT lucky...your fuse will pop before you damage any wireing, but will happen while you are running 70 MPH on an unfamiliar twisty road in the middle of nowhere....in the dead of night...POOF.....then BOOM...your wrapped around a tree cause you didn't see the cruve coming. then at this point....if your wires are burnt it won't make much difference, it will be the least of your worries.

Yeah that happened to me and I was doing 80mph. Good thing it was late at night and I was on the interstate which is lighted. After that I was doing the exact speed limit w/my hazards on hoping a cop wouldn't spot me.
Man that was a scary night.

like sirnuke said, it will result in heat and melting...i had first hand experience with my 84 mbz 190e and put in high wattage bulbs and in a couple of months, it fried my wires and had to pay more money than its worth to get relays just run those freakin lights...always go with the stock wattage
